Excerpt from The Episcopal Churchwomen of St. Philip's Parish, Durham, North Carolina: Year Book, 1976-1977 The call to the Church today is Renewal and Evangelism. This means the mandate to search our corporate life in the light of the Gospel, recommit ourselves to the Living Lord, and aggressively speak the message of that Good News to the world around us. It is a time, not for self-righteousness, but peni tence; not for glib answers to soul-shaking questions, but for care-filled loving witness to the Christ we proclaim. The Episcopal Churchwomen have received this call along with the whole Church. Nothing must be allowed to stand in the way of this high purpose. As an auxiliary group of St. Philip's Parish, the E. C. W. Bears the obligation to serve the Parish's efforts in this effort, and has the opportunity to focus on a sense of the newness and hope Christ offers us all.
