I'd like to thank you remaining reading dinosaurs for your interest in this project. Sadly I believe we are losing future generations to the art of the scribe. To actually pick up a book & hold it in your hands while turning pages is something tangibly enjoyable. I for one, would much rather have a sports page on the train, or even in the john, than my wifi connected phone. There's a place for technology. Just not every place.I believe this compilation of baseball championship statistics differs from any previous attempts at documenting the history of the World Series.First of all since the Neft brothers their annual Baseball Encyclopedia publication there are few if any dedicated books relating to just baseball. And none that I've found that specifically delve into the Fall Classic.Even if "Encyclopedia" were still available it would pale comparatively regarding the convenience "Chronology" provides. The Baseball Encyclopedia, a wonderful & informative text to be sure, made the reader really dig deep to find information and how that data compared to similar numbers or teams from other era's. The World Series Chronology, as it states in the title, compares, contrasts, & coordinates the champions. For instance; If one were curious to know which team comes closest to the New York Yankees record 5 consecutive titles (1949-53) one could in fact garner this information in the "Encyclopedia" after substantial investigation. But in "Chronology" it is easy to see the Oakland Athletics string of 3 straight (1972-74) is the next franchise in line.Or if someone is interested in knowing which two teams faced one another the most times in World Series competition, again this could be found after much tracking in another publication. Finding that the Yankees & Dodgers have met 11 times would not be impossible to decipher from the "Encyclopedia". But again "Chronology" does all the research, and the information jumps right off the page for the reader. The Yanks dominated the BROOKLYN Dodgers in their 7 meetings, winning 6 times. But since the Dodgers moved to L.A. the teams have split their 4 meetings evenly. These are just two examples of the myriad comparisons, contrasts, & relative similarities of all of the franchises that have played the glorious game of baseball into the fall.Want to know what teams dominated a decade in their respective league? Or how many times? How about how many times teams that won 100 games in the regular season faced one another in the Fall Classic? Which team has the most sweeps? Who got there with the least amount of wins? How they all fare historically? Which league holds the edge? All of this information, combined with anecdotes, social & historical correlations, and so much more is conveniently at the disposal of the reader. Thank you for your time. I suspect that later you'll thank me for mine.
