After a decade of trying to run from her dream, Lucy is finally facing her fears and putting pen to page. And will their different paths take them to the same place? Go. Lucy can’t believe her luck when a room in her best friend’s London house share opens up and she lands a job at the prestigious Supernova. It gives her the courage to face Max, who’s serendipitous encounter still has her reeling, and ask what really happened almost a decade ago? But does she really want to know, when being together feels like fate? In concurrent storylines that track what would have happened if Lucy chose to Stay or Go, What Might Have Been is a sweeping story that poses the questions: is it destiny or chance that decides who we are meant to be, and who we are meant to love? And is there such a thing as a soul mate?

Where Have I Been All My Life? is a compelling memoir recounting one woman’s journey through grief and a profound feeling of unworthiness to wholeness and healing. It begins with the chillingly sudden death of Rice’s mother, and is followed by her foray into the center of mourning. With wisdom, grace, and humor, Rice recounts the grief games she plays in an effort to resurrect her mother; her efforts to get her therapist, who she falls desperately in love with, to run away with her; and the transformation of her husband from fantasy man to ordinary guy to superhero. In the process, she experiences aching revelations about her family and her past—and realizes what she must leave behind, and what she can carry forward with her.

Jane, is a composite character of many women, some fictional and some similar to true life. She is beautiful, strong-willed, intelligent and athletic. No one would suspect that shes a victim of Domestic Violence against Women. Jane encompasses the types of domestic abuse women suffer. She is brainwashed to be a people pleaser. She represses her true feelings to survive her home and school life. Jane must appear positive and happy to avoid punishment. She is disempowered to assert herself. To avoid the disappointment of her parents Jane lies and steals to get her wants and dreams met. She is screaming inside with her need to be loved unconditionally. Jane rebels by detaching from herself. Her unrealistic world view causes her to be co-dependent, vulnerable and nave, a walking target for domestic abuse against women. In the end she is empowered to finally get free and to heal. Praise for You Dont have to be a Wimp to be Abused (for Women) Wallin crafts a brilliant, insightful work. Readers will learn practical ways to deal with their issues. You wont be able to put this book down even if you dont identify with Jane. The Quick Reference Guide really nails the issues. ~ Marlene Worrell, novelist and screenwriter; latest release is Angel in Shining Armor. Very interesting and informative. I like the idea of using a fictional character narrative to explore the various issues surrounding domestic abuse. The technique works well and is preferable to the more traditional methods. ~ Laurence French

In 1996, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released its report Telemedicine: A Guide to Assessing Telecommunications for Health Care. In that report, the IOM Committee on Evaluating Clinical Applications of Telemedicine found telemedicine is similar in most respects to other technologies for which better evidence of effectiveness is also being demanded. Telemedicine, however, has some special characteristics-shared with information technologies generally-that warrant particular notice from evaluators and decision makers. Since that time, attention to telehealth has continued to grow in both the public and private sectors. Peer-reviewed journals and professional societies are devoted to telehealth, the federal government provides grant funding to promote the use of telehealth, and the private technology industry continues to develop new applications for telehealth. However, barriers remain to the use of telehealth modalities, including issues related to reimbursement, licensure, workforce, and costs. Also, some areas of telehealth have developed a stronger evidence base than others. The Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) sponsored the IOM in holding a workshop in Washington, DC, on August 8-9 2012, to examine how the use of telehealth technology can fit into the U.S. health care system. HRSA asked the IOM to focus on the potential for telehealth to serve geographically isolated individuals and extend the reach of scarce resources while also emphasizing the quality and value in the delivery of health care services. This workshop summary discusses the evolution of telehealth since 1996, including the increasing role of the private sector, policies that have promoted or delayed the use of telehealth, and consumer acceptance of telehealth. The Role of Telehealth in an Evolving Health Care Environment: Workshop Summary discusses the current evidence base for telehealth, including available data and gaps in data; discuss how technological developments, including mobile telehealth, electronic intensive care units, remote monitoring, social networking, and wearable devices, in conjunction with the push for electronic health records, is changing the delivery of health care in rural and urban environments. This report also summarizes actions that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) can undertake to further the use of telehealth to improve health care outcomes while controlling costs in the current health care environment.
