My book is a memoir based on my first love, he was an amazing boy who came into my life when we were much too young to understand true love. And yet he was, seemingly, my perfect match. The significance of the cover of my book is that it is a picture I took of the woods behind our school where he carved our initials into a tree back in 1972. My book touches on the insecurities I had back then which led me to abandon that boy. I describe the devastation I felt when he moved on to someone else and how I spent years trying to find another love to match the one I had with him, eventually, leading me into an abusive relationship with my high school boyfriend. It was one that almost destroyed me. Sadly, I allowed myself to be affected by the growing pains many of us suffer from during our ever-changing adolescent and teenage years. I wish I knew then what I know now when it came to the jealousy, interference and betrayal of friends that I allowed to affect my life in ways I shouldn't have. I would have done things so differently including kicking some friends to the curb who, as it turns out, never had my best interest at heart and in fact probably never cared about me.I share how all of these life experiences played an intricate part in the adult I was to become. My life is an open book, therefore, I try my best to talk about everything...the good times as well as my darkest moments with you, my reader. The life lessons and afterthoughts that I write about are my way of showing that life doesn't always go the way you may plan and the road may be quite challenging but perhaps in the long run you wind up with the fairy tale ending. Read my book and you will find out if I did! I believe that through my journey, you will see yourself in me at times. I hope I may inspire you to take chances, persevere and become a stronger person because of my book.

I wonder how many parents and teachers have ever wished that there was a simple and effective way to teach children how to manage their feelings? I was one of those parents and teachers until, in August 2009, I was taught a very simple and effective way which I share now in this book. Written in rhyme, "When Charlie made a wish ..." tells the tale of twins, Charlie and Mae, and their struggles with self-belief and confidence. One day, Charlie's self-esteem is at a very low ebb when, magically, his cuddly toy rabbit, Wilkins, comes to life and teaches the children several valuable life lessons. They learn about the negative voice in the head - the script - and that it isn't real and isn't who they are. They come to understand the origins of the script and the chaos it causes. Wilkins teaches them how to spot the script in action and the twins discover they can disarm it, just by choosing happier thoughts and feelings. Finally, Charlie and Mae are amazed to find that they each have access to a superhero inside them who enables acceptance and forgiveness to take place. Inner peace and harmony at last!
