Simultaneous optical observations from the beta mu-11962 satellite have been used to calculate the threedimensional orientation and geodetic azimuths of lines ranging from 400 km to 1600 km in length. These directions were subsequently used as input to a conventional first-order triangulation adjustment and a three-dimensional surface adjustment to establish the geodetic positions of the camera sites. It is concluded from this study that the station-to-station directions can be computed within an accuracy of 0.7 sec for the three-dimensional fix and to within 0.5 sec for the geodetic azimuth. The conventional and three-dimensional adjustments produce an average root-mean-square error of 6 m in position. (Author).

"Technical Bulletin No. 1 is a result of the cooperative effort of several units and individuals of the Photogrammetry Division in seeking a computational method of aerotriangulation adjustment, which could be coded for automatic computation, to replace the burdensome graphical-numerical method"--Preliminary page
