Today, Seventh-day Adventists are known for their healthcare institutions and their work in the field of medicine, but it wasn't always that way. In the late 1800s and early 1900s the Adventist Church was still in its infancy, and the medical work was just getting started. As with the introduction of anything new, there were bumps in the road as the church embarked on the work of obeying the divine instruction to combine taking care of physical needs with gospel proclamation. But did the way need to be so rough? Three Adventist Titans: The significance of heeding or rejecting the counsel of Ellen White examines the lives of three prominent Adventist leaders-John Harvey Kellogg, physician at the Battle Creek Sanitarium; Arthur G. Daniells, president of the General Conference; and Percy Magan, founder of Madison College and later president of the College of Medical Evangelists-who each played an important role in founding the medical and evangelical work of the church. The book provides an in-depth look at the lives of these three men, their work in the church, their personal communication with Ellen White, their regard for the counsel of the Spirit of Prophecy, and their adherence or rejection of that counsel.

The Seventh-day Adventist church, formally organized in America in 1863, is today one of the fastest-growing Protestant movements in the world and defines itself as a prophetic remnant, raised up and commissioned by God to teach and preach a final message of warning to the world before the imminent return of Christ. From its beginnings, however, a sense of failure was built into the success of the fledgling movement. In order to preserve the message (the imminent return of Christ), Adventists had to erect institutions based on continuity and permanence. A dilemma emerged: medical institutions built to be conducive for separation from the world faced a this-worldly reality filled with requirements from various state entities: registration, approval, and so forth. Thus, Adventist medical institutions confronted constant challenges to their denominational and theological uniqueness. The emergence of this dilemma between aspirations of separateness and this-worldly reality was especially evident in the battle for Adventism's sectarian identity, ethos, and future at the turn of the twentieth century--between Ellen G. White (a cofounder of the movement) and Dr. John H. Kellogg (an Adventist administrator and surgeon who sought to desectarianize the movement).

In Part I, I dive into Adventist doctrines about the nature of death, the nature of man, the intermediate state, annihilation, and the final punishment of the unsaved. Adventism subscribes to the doctrine of soul sleep, the nonexistence of an immaterial, conscious human spirit that survives the death of the body, and annihilation of the unsaved in the final judgement. I contextually expound on relevant Scriptural passages on these issues and disprove the Adventist doctrines, beliefs, arguments, and assumptions. In Part II, I deal with Adventist beliefs and arguments regarding an unsavory teaching of Ellen White. She stated that some animals and "races of men" were the result of "amalgamation of man and beast." Perhaps more than any other issue, this has consistently been an embarrassing teaching of Adventists that keeps being agitated. Historically, Adventists have always understood and taught that Ellen White meant that Black people and other dark-skinned people are the result of this amalgamation. In recent decades, Adventist apologists have been trying very hard to reinterpret Ellen Whites statements so as to make them refer to something else. But their attempts fail miserably when you read the airtight, bombshell information that I unearth on this issue, and my refutations of their new interpretations and arguments. Ellen White made some beautiful statements about Black people, but she also made a lot more racist ones. She even forbids Black and White interracial marriages, and advocated for segregation. In Part III, I tackle and expose several of Ellen White's failed and false prophecies, which surely prove her to be a false prophet. A hallmark of 19th century false prophets is that they contradict Scripture and themselves. In this section, I will walk you through hordes of Ellen White's contradictions of Scripture, as well as of herself. She seemed to have been very ignorant of what Scripture teaches on a plethora of issues, and just could not keep up with the endless things she was writing, plagiarizing, and making up. When Adventists are trying to convince people of Ellen White's divine inspiration and status as a true prophet, they always try to present her as being scientifically and medically "100 years ahead of her time." But what they would never do is expose the public to the endless stifling legalism, absurd statements, and ridiculous teachings and beliefs she propagated, having imbibed and plagiarized those from the many 19th century quack scientists and thinkers. She placed "divine inspiration" on many pseudoscientific beliefs and theories of her day and passed them off as truths and facts from God's throne to be obeyed by Adventists. Lastly, in Part IV I give some practical tips and advice that can help disillusioned Adventists regain control of their lives, minds, and sanity after discovering that Adventism is wrong. Sadly, the majority of ex-Adventists become agnostics and atheists because of the nature of Adventist doctrines and the cultish brainwashing. But this does not have to be your experience. You can have a normal, vibrant, meaningful life after escaping the clutches of Adventism. You can live a normal, fruitful life without being paranoid about the simplest things and without living in fear that the Roman Catholic Church and Christians are out to get you with those Sunday Laws. You can enjoy a wonderful and healthy Christian faith, despite the lies that Adventism has hammered into you about Christianity. The biblical Gospel is beautiful, life-changing, and liberating. The historical Christian faith is true, despite the endless misrepresentations of it by some Christians, Adventists, and other pseudo-Christian cults.
