Originally designed as a carrier-borne long-range interceptor armed with radar-guided missiles and tasked with defence against missile-launching bombers, the Phantom II went on to establish itself as one of the most important multi-role fighter, attack and reconnaissance aircraft of the 20th century. Arguably the United States' most important aircraft in the Vietnam War, where it played the role of workhorse as well as being a deadly MiG interceptor, the Phantom was also a mainstay of Atlantic Fleet operations ? intercepting Soviet bomber and reconnaissance aircraft and turning them away from the carrier groups at the height of the Cold War. This book reveals the design and development history of the naval Phantom, its variants and the exported designs adopted by other NATO countries. Packed with illustrations, photographs and first-hand accounts, it provides a technical history of one of the most famous aircraft ever built.

Copper Divide is one woman’s story of friendship tested by a society torn apart by a labor strike that resulted in the 1913 Italian Hall Disaster. In 1913 a massive and violent copper miners’ strike has split the once peaceful community surrounding Calumet, Michigan. Thousands are protesting and rioting in the streets. The National Guard is sent in and stays for months. Hannah Weinstein is a Jewish merchant’s daughter, confronted by the divide between her family’s relative comfort and that of her Finnish friend Nelma Jokela. Nelma is married to a striker and on the front lines of the dispute. Hannah bides her time hosting illicit gambling games while her college education is put on hold by the strike. Late one evening, Hannah watches as a night train pulls into the station, and over one hundred scab miners climb into waiting carriages. Russell Toll is one of these men, who hopes to make enough money to marry his fiancée. The murder of two scab miners compels Hannah to join a Citizens’ Alliance opposing the strike and puts Hannah and Nelma on different sides of the conflict. A tragic accident caused by Russell forces the two friends to reassess the value of their friendship.

"NOT TODAY," was part of a battle cry of John C. Lafferty's Marine unit in Vietnam. He could not forget the meaning of this battle cry nor of his comrades left behind. Twelve years after the war he confides in his sister and tells her his story. Then, she realizes the change in him was not because of the horrors of war, but of the courage, sacrifices and the bonding that takes place between comrades in arms. This wasn't anything she could have guessed nor would she even have been able to understand had he not told her his story. This is when she realizes she wouldn't want to change him back, even if she could. "NOT TODAY," is based on true events from a Vietnam War Vet. The story is narrated by a woman who saw a change in her brother after the war and her diary of conversations with him. The bulk of the story takes place in Vietnam and it covers the politics and the attitudes of people, both in war and after. It is about the real cost of war and the attitudes of one Marine's heart. All the people and names in the story are fictional, but the characters are as real as the events.
