On the 12th of November, 1686, a company was formed by residents of the city of Frankfort-on-the-Main, in Germany, for the management of twenty-five thousand acres of land in the Province of Pennsylvania, which they had purchased of William Penn. The names of the members of the company were: Jacob Van de Wallen, Daniel Behagel, Johann Jacob Schutz, Johann Wilhelm Eberfeld, Francis Daniel Pastorius, Johann Wilhelm Petersen, Dr. Gerhard Van Mastricht, Dr. Thomas Van Willich, Johannes LeBrun, Balthazar Jawert and Johannes Kembler. The name given the organization was The Frankfort Company. On the Third day of Second month, 1689, the Proprietary's Commissioners of Property confirmed to Francis Daniel Pastorius, the attorney of the company, twenty-six hundred and seventy-five acres in part of the twenty-five thousand acres.
