In common with the Pocket Fine Binding without the Apocrypha, this Bible is a thoroughbred in its design and manufacture, and it has the added benefit of the inclusion of the books of the Apocrypha. This is an ideal present of worth for any occasion that will surely be appreciated by any lover of fine books. The Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books make it especially suitable for giving to Anglican and Catholic recipients on special occasions, including Confirmations and First Communions. It is also ideal as a Bible to carry when travelling, with its slipcase providing protection from excessive wear.

Available for the first time in the Anglicized Edition, and with the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical Books as well as centre column cross-references, the NRSV is the standard text for all serious Bible study. The New Revised Standard Version of the Bible is steadily increasing in popularity. It is highly respected among academics, including evangelicals, and used in theological colleges across the board as the most accurate translation available. It has been widely adopted across the Church of England and is in the process of being adopted for use in the Catholic liturgy. The NRSV is an accurate translation in the tradition of the King James Version, with special sensitivity to gender inclusiveness, without any loss of clarity, and retaining the traditional style of referring to God as 'He' or 'Him.' Completely reset in the highly-respected Anglicized Edition, along with the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical Books, this is the ideal Bible for Catholic readers or anyone interested in these books arising out of the intra-testamental period. Cross references make it particularly suitable for study, as well as for personal reading and church use.

Since its first publication in the United Kingdom in 1990, the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible has established itself as one of the finest modern translations of the biblical text ever produced. Already extensively used in theological faculties in major universities and colleges, this version is not only ideal for academic work but also lends itself perfectly to liturgical worship, group Bible study in parishes, and personal reading. The work of Anglicization has been undertaken with considerable care in Britain, with the full support, encouragement and active participation of leading academics from the USA, who were responsible for the original work of translation. By this means the foundational scholarship which undergirds the NRSV has been safeguarded, but enhanced for readers in the United Kingdom, and other countries where Brtitish usage is preferred. The changes made to the text do not impair the translation, but rather ensure that the meaning is immediately clear for the reader. This has particular implications for the use of the NRSV in public worship, where the natural flow of language is vitally important. Equally the use of unfamiliar phrases will no longer interrupt the reader's concentration in personal use, nor will such matters distract users in study groups.
