The word Faul heit is set to a musical imitation of a yawn, and the line, ach! Ich gahn'! Ich werde matt is punctuated with rests, giving a very realistic impression of sleepiness. This effect is in creased by the chromatic progressions and broken octaves of the accompaniment. The two measures added after the voice is silent give a finishing touch of snoring somnolence.
