Excerpt from The Evangelical Repository, Vol. 1: A Quarterly Magazine of Theological Literature The Extent of the Atonement was the largest of the Kilmarnock series of Gospel publications. It had only paper covers, and sold at a shilling. It contained more than a hundred of those long, closely printed pa es, that seem to have been preferred in the early editions m that local press. Although not so philosophical in its structure as the Nature of the Atonement (and the subject did not admit of so much original research) it was even more important, in one view of the matter; and more popular, because all its arguments and illustrations centred round that point, which was the most prominent one in the whole controversy Did Christ, or did he not, die for all men? If we should succeed in giving our readers a clearly condensed summary of this work, we will at once let them understand what was the sum and substance of Mr. Morison's preaching at this time, as well as prepare them for the discussions of the Synod, which all hinged on this momentous question.
