The author has an inferiority complex. She grew up in a financially poor family with both of her parents, two grandmothers and seven siblings. She was the oldest girl in the family. While she was never mistreated, she was neglected. She had to help with certain farm chores as well as to help with household duties and care for the younger ones. Her dad was very critical of her, now matter how hard she tried to please him. She is very much an introvert and feels uncomfortable in social situations. As a senior citizen today, she wonders why her family doesn't keep in touch with her. She knows that this life is her battle for perfection, and that she must suffer and overcome in order to cross over to the other side. There are times when she finds this difficult and she writes to obtain relief. It seems to work for her.

In 1914, the SS Komagata Maru arrived in Vancouver Harbour and was detained for two months. Most of its 376 passengers were then forcibly returned to India. Unmooring the Komagata Maru challenges conventional Canadian historical accounts by drawing from multiple disciplines and fields to consider the international and colonial dimensions of the voyage. By situating South Asian Canadian history within a global-imperial context, the contributors offer a critical reading of Canadian multiculturalism through past events and their commemoration. A hundred years later, the voyage of the Komagata Maru has yet to reach its conclusion.

This writing in the first part is a description of my post WWII personal memories as a young boy and a young man in Europe, and later my journeys on five continents. Nevertheless, it is not a travel book by any means. On the other hand, outside of my stories it might give a snapshot of countries, their political and economical backgrounds, and people. Including here my country of origin, Sweden, South Africa, Rhodesia, Ethiopia, Australia and foremost the USA. Although I do not writing about them separately, I am referring often to Germany, Austria and France where I have been living as well. My writings also historical facts of the aftermath of the WWII in Europe where I was one of the many who has suffered enormously, being often close to the extinction. I am looking at my life as a journey; nevertheless, this writing about physical journeys. I am writing in most detail about Sweden where I did live for years, and some African countries, from where had hard times to get back to Europe, then Australia, where I was an opal miner, and later university professor in Sydney, and of course lots of thoughts and stories of the USA where I find finally home, and enclosing one of my Canadian adventure. Several other countries being mentioned in this book where I have been - although never as a tourist. Since I did write this book in the mid 1980's, therefore, some parts are outdated, however, perhaps you could look at it as - what you have missed if you born later. I have done some "updating" but somewhere along the process I have given up on it, thinking that it is better leave it as it is.
