The pace of modern life is undoubtedly speeding up, yet this acceleration does not seem to have made us any happier or more content. If acceleration is the problem, then the solution, argues Hartmut Rosa in this major new work, lies in “resonance.” The quality of a human life cannot be measured simply in terms of resources, options, and moments of happiness; instead, we must consider our relationship to, or resonance with, the world. Applying his theory of resonance to many domains of human activity, Rosa describes the full spectrum of ways in which we establish our relationship to the world, from the act of breathing to the adoption of culturally distinct worldviews. He then turns to the realms of concrete experience and action – family and politics, work and sports, religion and art – in which we as late modern subjects seek out resonance. This task is proving ever more difficult as modernity’s logic of escalation is both cause and consequence of a distorted relationship to the world, at individual and collective levels. As Rosa shows, all the great crises of modern society – the environmental crisis, the crisis of democracy, the psychological crisis – can also be understood and analyzed in terms of resonance and our broken relationship to the world around us. Building on his now classic work on acceleration, Rosa’s new book is a major new contribution to the theory of modernity, showing how our problematic relation to the world is at the crux of some of the most pressing issues we face today. This bold renewal of critical theory for our times will be of great interest to students and scholars across the social sciences and humanities.

The book "The Art Of Relationship Resonance - Mastering Communication For Stronger Bonds" is a comprehensive guide that explores effective communication within relationships. It provides practical insights, strategies, and tools to help readers develop the necessary skills to communicate authentically, navigate conflicts, foster emotional intimacy, and strengthen their connections with their partners. The book covers various aspects of communication, including verbal and non-verbal cues, active listening, empathy, conflict resolution, and the impact of technology on relationships. The inspiration behind writing this book comes from my personal experience. I grew up in a simple Bengali family with strong values and principles. Witnessing my parents' harmonious relationship, I was inspired to understand the importance of effective communication in relationships. However, my own experiences in relationships, including failures due to communication issues, taught me valuable lessons that I wanted to share through this book.

What is artistic resonance and how can it be linked to one's life and one's art? This latest book of essays from legendary theatre director Anne Bogart, considers the creation of resonance in the artistic endeavour, with a focus on the performing arts. The word 'resonance' comes from the Latin meaning to 're-sound' or 'sound together'. From music to physics, resonance is a common thread that evokes a response and, in general, is understood as a quality that makes something personally meaningful and valuable. For Bogart, curiosity is a key personal quality to be nurtured throughout life and that very same curiosity, as an artist, thinker and human being. Creating pathways between performance theory, art history, neuroscience, music, architecture and the visual arts, and consistently forging new thought-paths, the writing draws upon Anne Bogart's own life and artistic journeys to illuminate potent philosophical ideas. Woven with personal anecdotes, stories and reflections, this is a book that will be of interest to any theatre artist and anyone who reflects on the power of the arts, of theatre-making and what it means to be engaged in the artistic process.

My thesis study investigates my art practice as a means of capturing the experience of resonance in relationship as an art therapy intern working with people who had experienced trauma. I review relevant literature that draws from the topics of trauma, relational resonance, and the ceramic process to situate this arts-based inquiry. As an art therapy intern, I worked with clients in multiple settings throughout Chicago including a community counseling organization serving individuals with mental illness; a non-profit research and trauma-informed therapy organization supporting youth and families in an urban school; a foster care village; and hospital setting; and a bilingual and bicultural agency that provides support to youth. The method of this arts-based research included writing each week in a journal to record my experiences working with clients in diverse community settings. Every Saturday, I reviewed my weekly notes and wrote in response to the experiences that had resonated within me. Twice a week, on Mondays and Sundays, I worked with clay to build sculptural containers, with the intention of creating one ceramic piece each month, from October through April. The body of work that resulted includes ceramic vessels and creative non-fiction stories and poems that provide glimpses into my experience. The discussion focuses on describing aspects of the ceramic art process and its parallels with the experience of resonance within therapeutic relationships. I conclude that cultivating compassion and mindfulness through one's art practice may provide self-care that is vital to sustaining clinical work with individuals who have experienced trauma.

"Most of us will have many friends throughout our lifetimes—friends of all shapes, sizes, and callings. Many of these are wonderful, meaningful friendships. Some are difficult. But some magic few of these are connections that have gone right to our soul. These five or seven or ten friendships have been powerful keys to determining who we have become and who we will become. . . . These are the people I call Soul Friends." As the Senior Scholar-in-Residence for over 25 years at the renowned Kripalu Center, Stephen Cope has spent decades investigating—and writing about—the integration of body, mind, and spirit and the rich complexity of our relationships with others, and with ourselves. Perhaps the central truth that arises from his work is this: human beings are universally wired for one thing—vital connection with one another.Soul Friends invites us on a compelling journey into the connectivity of the human psyche, the study of which has fascinated scholars, philosophers, and thinkers for centuries. Cope seamlessly blends science, scholarship, and storytelling, drawing on his own life as well as the histories of famous figures—from Eleanor Roosevelt to Charles Darwin to Queen Victoria—whose formative relationships shed light on the nature of friendship itself. In his exploration, he distills human connection into six distinct yet interconnected mechanisms: containment, twinship, adversity, mirroring, identification, and conscious partnership. Then he invites us to reflect on how these forms of connection appear in our own lives, helping us work toward a fuller understanding of "who we have become and who we will become."Without a doubt, the journey to our most fulfilled selves requires us to look within. But in order to truly thrive, we must make the most of who we are in relation to one another as well. Unsparingly honest, deeply wise, and irresistibly readable, Soul Friends gives us a map to find our way.

ENERGETICS OF RELATIONSHIP explains our relationships in terms of electricity - why we are attracted to one person and turned off by another, why some people light us up and others don't, and why even a close relationship can fizzle. In this book we see how quarrels and conflicts, childhood traumas, and problems with intimacy relate to a dysfunction in our electric circuit. In an electrical system, as well as in our relationships, there are four components. If each component is functioning properly, electricity flows - and our relationship is great. If any component is not functioning properly, the electric current will be weak or excessive - and our relationship will have problems. ENERGETICS OF RELATIONSHIP grounds the idea of the four components through eleven Repatternings. Even reading the Repatternings and answering the questions they focus on brings about a new awareness of ourself and has the potential to change how we relate to the people in our life.
