Mere self-regard would have made him prefer to be the author of a separate work on the Practice of Medicine; in which scope would have been allowed him for various topics necessarily omitted on the present occasion. But he was consoled by the reflexion, that, next to the pleasure of original promulgation of sound precepts Of doctrine and practice by oneself, is that of bearing corroborative testimony to emanations ofthis nature from another person.
