Practice and Preparation for the 2017-2018 STAAR Writing Test! This book will develop the language, vocabulary, and writing conventions skills that students in Texas need. It includes revising and editing exercises that require students to apply skills, as well as individual quizzes focusing on each skill. It has been created to match the skills listed in the TEKS standards, and will also prepare students for the revising and editing tasks on the STAAR Writing test taken in grade 4. Section 1: Revising and Editing Quizzes - 20 individual quizzes test editing and revising skills - Allows students to apply language skills in context - Prepares students for the revising and editing tasks on the STAAR Writing test Section 2: Language, Vocabulary, and Writing Conventions Quizzes - Covers the writing skills listed in the TEKS standards - Individual quizzes allow students to focus specifically on each writing skill - Quizzes cover language, vocabulary, writing conventions, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling Preparing for the STAAR Writing Tests Texas students take a STAAR Writing test in grade 4. The test includes writing compositions and about 30 revising and editing questions. The revising and editing questions make up about 75 percent of the total score. This quiz book will prepare students for the revising and editing sections of the STAAR tests. Students will develop the writing skills they need to perform well on the test, become familiar with the question types on the test, and gain experience completing revising and editing tasks. Students will then be ready for the STAAR Writing test.
