The press called him a "real-life James Bond." Fidel Castro called him "the most dangerous CIA agent." History remembers him as a Watergate burglar, yet the Watergate break-in was his least perilous mission. Frank Sturgis--using more than 30 aliases and code names--trained guerilla armies in 12 countries on three continents and spearheaded assassination plots to overthrow foreign governments including those of Cuba, Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. Warrior follows the shocking, often unbelievable adventures of Sturgis, brought to life by his nephew, Jim Hunt, who lived with Sturgis, and his co-writer, Bob Risch. Also included are never-before-seen personal photos of Sturgis and his compatriots. Frank Sturgis was well-versed in a life of shadows: familiar to world leaders and underground kingpins, to spies and couterspies...Warrior is his story. NASCAR, Sturgis, and the New Economy of Spectacle maps the structure of economies of spectacle in stock car racing and large displacement motorcycle rallying. The book traces the historical development of economic spectacles and models the structural components and moving parts that sustain them. Economies of spectatorship emerge when activities and legends in the cultural commons are privatized or enclosed as immaterial property. Once privatized, a spectacular diegesis supports a triple-circuit of profit: spectatorship markets (payments to see), sponsorship markets (payments to be seen) and trophy markets (payments to be seen enjoying). Vivid illustrations of legendary action in NASCAR and carnivalesque displays at Sturgis reveal how spectator events function as intensive sites of profit-making in contemporary capitalism.

Sturgis, named for Col. Samuel Sturgis of the U.S. Seventh Calvary, was established in 1878 as a "no holds barred" supply center for Fort Meade. Laid out by Jeremiah Wilcox, an in-law of Colonel Sturgis, Sturgis had an ample representation of saloons and gambling dens. In fact, Sturgis became known as "Scooptown," because of the regularity with which these establishments "scooped" the pay from Fort Meade soldiers' pockets. Now home to a thriving and active community, Sturgis has changed over the years but remains a colorful and fascinating area rich in history and character. In 1938, motorcycle enthusiast J.C. "Pappy" Hoel got a few friends together for a weekend of friendly competition, picnicking, and a tour of the Black Hills. Today, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is known worldwide.

A special kind of travel journal... A German rides to the largest motorcycle party in the world with a 92ci (1500cc) Victory bike and some good American friends from St. Paul (Minnesota) to "STURGIS" (South Dakota). He lets the reader/viewer get a taste of his impressions of the landscapes, people, experiences, and the American way of living. It is a book of a road trip with many expressive images that speak for themselves ... Anyone who has not been there by now at least has the opportunity to get a taste of the great freedom, the "Big Event" - the "Sturgis Bike Week" - and also the diverse and breathtaking scenes of nature from the author ́s perspective, such as the prairie, the Badlands, and the Black Hills. He or she should get a little taste of all this, and also a little appetite, ... Yes, he or she should long for a bit MORE ... Because at the right time, nothing is cooler than the inner attitude to life according to the Native American motto: Let it go with the flow ...! The cover photo shows the author (left) and his American buddy John (right) on the way to Sturgis on the outskirts of "White River", which they have taken shortly after a refueling stop. PS: In the book's appendix, many "links" have been added for people who also feel like experiencing the wild beauty of this unspoiled South Dakota country. In addition, a highly recommended American travel guide around the Bike Week in Sturgis is presented.

Adopted to different families shortly after birth, identical twin brothers Scott and Henry grow to manhood having no idea that the other exists. They ultimately wind up on opposite sides of the fence, for Scott 'Zipper' Conlon is a member of the Skuldmen, an outlaw motorcycle club, and Henry Baker is a federal law enforcement officer. During a stakeout, when FBI agent Mitchell Gates observes Zipper leaving the apartment of a suspected terrorist, he implores his old Army buddy to learn what he can about the man. Although uncomfortable doing so, Zipper feels obligated, not only as an American, but because Gates saved his life during the first Gulf War. Due to the Skuldmen's anti-law enforcement beliefs, they agree that their cooperation be kept secret. A terrorist plot to kill thousands, combined with a woman's revelation that Zipper is Henry Baker the cop, sets off a chain reaction that will shake the Skuldmen to the core, as the brothers react. In an unpredictable story of suspense, murder and mistaken identity, three tales merge into one during the biggest biker party of the year, when All Roads Lead to Sturgis.
