Download Structure-Performance Relationships In Surfactants Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
In response to intensifying interest on surfactant research brought on by recent innovation, Structure-Performance Relationships in Surfactants, Second Edition examines novel developments in our understanding of the properties and performance of surfactants at air-liquid, liquid-liquid, and solid-liquid interfaces, highlighting seven new chapters and carefully updated material to reflect current trends. This edition presents new material on the adsorption of vesicle-forming surfactants at the air-water interface, fluorinated surfactants having two hydrophobic chains, surface-active properties of telomer-type surfactants having several hydrocarbon chains, and the association behavior of amphiphilic dendritic polymers, among many other topics.

Download Surfactants: Chemistry, Interfacial Properties, Applications Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
This publication provides comprehensive material on the chemical and physical attributes of surfactants and new models for the understanding of structure-property relationships. Surfactants Chemistry, Interfacial Properties, Applications provides efficient instruments for the prognostication of principal physicochemical properties and the technologic applicability from the structure of a surfactant through the discussion of interrelations between the chemical structure, physicochemical properties and the efficiency of technologic application. Also included are informative overviews on new experimental techniques and abundant reference material on manufacturers, nomenclature, product properties, and experimental examples. The publication is accompanied by a CD-ROM, which is needed for the application of the thermodynamic and kinetic models to experimental data.

Download Surfactants and Interfacial Phenomena Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Now in its fourth edition, Surfactants and Interfacial Phenomena explains why and how surfactants operate in interfacial processes (such as foaming, wetting, emulsion formation and detergency), and shows the correlations between a surfactant's chemical structure and its action. Updated and revised to include more modern information, along with additional three chapters on Surfactants in Biology and Biotechnology, Nanotechnology and Surfactants, and Molecular Modeling with Surfactant Systems, this is the premier text on the properties and applications of surfactants. This book provides an easy-to-read, user-friendly resource for industrial chemists and a text for classroom use, and is an unparalleled tool for understanding and applying the latest information on surfactants. Problems are included at the end of each chapter to enhance the reader’s understanding, along with many tables of data that are not compiled elsewhere. Only the minimum mathematics is used in the explanation of topics to make it easy-to-understand and very user friendly.

Download Design and Selection of Performance Surfactants Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Based on the premise that all commercially available surfactantsare at best simple blends and that many in reality are a complexmixture of surface active species and minor non-surface activecomponents, it rapidly becomes apparent that the prediction ofstructure-performance relationships is far from easy. Thedevelopment of surfactants to meet specific performance criteriarequires a fundamental knowledge of structural features and / orcomponents which contribute to or possess one or more of thedesired surface active properties. Volume 2 of this Annual Surfactants Review series addresses someof these structure / performance considerations, from computermodelling through to a consideration of how to modify specificsurfactants by adjusting carbon chain length distribution, bystudying the influence of chain branching, by introducing reactivegroups or fluorinated hydrophobes, or by replacing conventionalhydrophobes (or hydrophiles) with natural feedstock derivatives. The latter include carbohydrate derivatives, natural hydrocolloidsand biosurfactants. A detailed study of catalytic and kineticeffects in ethoxylation processes shows how nonionic ethoxylatecompositions can be altered, and this is further illustrated by aconsideration of narrow chain length distribution fatty alcoholethoxylates and their properties. Influence of chain branching infatty alcohol ethoxylates is also demonstrated, using secondaryalcohol ethoxylates as an example. Two end-use applications areincluded, not only to report the latest developments in those areasbut also to illustrate the performance / selection approach inidentifying the most appropriate surfactants for a specific enduse.

Download Surfactants and Detergents Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Surfactants by virtue of their structure form self-assembled organized structures that exhibit fascinating properties useful for a wide range of applications. This book is a compilation of chapters from leading experts highlighting the use of specific surfactants and their functional properties in new and emerging areas of science and technology. The first two chapters of this book discuss the various applications of surfactants, including their use in cosmetics, oil recovery from rocks and mineral processing. Subsequent chapters cover advanced topics like new-generation polymer-based nanoparticles with microbial activity and complex phase systems formed as a result of charge-induced interactions between surfactants, polymers and proteins with potential applications in medical devices. In addition, this book reports for the first time on bio-surfactants extracted from micro-organisms present in the clouds. This report is not the only one of its kind, but it opens up a totally new area of research in terms of an unexplored source of bio-surfactants. It also paves the way for understanding their role in controlling our atmosphere and climate.
