Download Mechanisms of Follow-up to the Programme of Action on Population and Development in the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
This document analyses the results of a survey conducted by the Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Centre (CELADE) - Population Division of ECLAC in the framework of activities underway to develop systems of indicators for follow-up to the Programme of Action on Population and Development established at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) of 1994, and to the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Plan of Action on Population and Development, which was approved in its final form in 1996. The data from this survey, which was conducted in late 2000, was complemented with selected information from the Eighth United Nations Inquiry among Governments on Population and Development, conducted by the Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs at the United Nations Secretariat in 1998, and from the Inquiry on Country-Level Experiences since the International Conference on Population and Development, which was conducted, also in 1998, by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Download A Territorial Perspective Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Territorial development in Latin America and the Caribbean is a process that calls for consensus-building and innovation in the fields of planning and land management. This publication points out that the potential spatial synergies of this highly urbanized continent can be used to convert its rich diversity into a resource that can help promote the future progress of its cities and territories. The study takes a multidimensional approach to the analysis of a variety of issues relating to the region's human settlements, including the urbanization process, social integration, economic progress, environmental sustainability and the building of citizenship.

Download Social Panorama of Latin America 2020 Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
This publication examines the social impact of an unprecedented crisis. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have spread to all areas of human life, altering the way we interact, crippling economies and bringing about profound changes in societies. The pandemic has highlighted and exacerbated the major structural gaps in the region, and it is clear that the costs of inequality have become unsustainable and that it is necessary to rebuild with equality and sustainability, aiming for the creation of a true welfare state, long overdue in the region.
