Solar Energy is a perspective choice for electric power generation for different applications as investigated in the present study. The Solar Energy can be directly converted into Electrical Energy by Solar Panel. The book is concerned on one of the applications of Solar energy source. The modeling and simulation work involved investigation of feasibility of Solar Water Pumping over other technologies with respect to considerations of cost, reliability, polluting the surrounding and noise. A new model for estimating global solar radiation from relative sunshine hour records is developed and applied to estimate available solar energy of Wogdi Town. This proposal has good efficiency, cost-effective, environmentally friend than the existing diesel water Pumping System. However, it requires high initial investment cost.Under study, design and simulation of different components of solar water pumping system software (PVsyst) has been used and played a significant role. Finally, the overall modelled system has also been recommended for testing and applications in other similar areas.

Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems: Concept, Design and Methods of Optimization looks at the potential of effectively designed PVPS and how they can be commercially efficient and economically competitive to grid connected or diesel generator (DG) based pumping systems. The low energy conversion efficiency of PV modules, nonlinearity of PV module/array I-V characteristics and the unique maximum power operation point are major challenges of this technology, this book provides readers with design and optimization methods, codes and critical analysis of the recent developments in PV pumping systems. Focusing on system feasibility and suitable applications with design procedures, this reference presents a critical analysis of PVPS field performance, modeling and control strategies using artificial intelligence techniques. A suitable text for researchers, engineers and graduate students who are working in the field of photovoltaics and pumping and systems. Uses open source Matlab codes for PV pumping system optimization Provides global cases studies and design examples for comparison Includes a data source sheet for proposed systems for successful implementation methods

Solar power for pumping groundwater has a vast potential for improving the sustainability of water supply schemes. However experience also shows that a lack of knowledge, capacity and expertise to design and implement such schemes is holding back their adoption. This book bridges this gap to equip engineers and technicians with the requisite knowledge for design, implementation and operation of sustainable solar powered water schemes.Solar Pumping for Water Supply is a state of the art review of solar water pumping technology combined with practical insights, lessons and best practices drawn from experience. It takes the reader step by step through the different phases that comprise a solar water pumping project, namely: assessment, design, purchase of equipment, installation, operation and management. The book also covers the economics of using solar pumping technology, especially when compared to diesel generators and hand pumps. Finally, the social aspects are included, specifically relating to the operation and management of solar pumping systems and the role that beneficiaries, implementers, government and the private sector might play to ensure long-lasting water supply. The book provides links and references to tools, documents and videos to accompany the content of the different chapters.Essential reading for solar technical practitioners at NGOs, UN agencies, government offices and private sector, including Global and Regional Technical advisors and Field engineers wanting to understand and know how to design water systems using solar power. A basic knowledge in the field of water supply is assumed, but no previous knowledge of solar photovoltaic technology is required.Alberto Ibáñez Llario is a Global Solar and Water Advisor with the International Organization for Migration and has 15 years of experience in water systems and solar PV in various locations around the world.Asenath Kiprono is a solar water pumping expert with 12 years' experience in design and implementation of pumping systems in rural Africa, including solar pumping systems in the private, public and humanitarian sectors.

In the last decade, solar energy has experienced a rapid growth, which brings both environmental and economic benefits. In many countries, there is still no electricity grid extension in rural areas, and in the absence of a reliable electricity supply, farmers have to resort to diesel-based pumping irrigation systems. The solar photovoltaic (PV) system generates clean energy and eliminates the risk of environmental pollution in the form of oil spills, contaminated soil and carbon dioxide emissions. Operation and maintenance of the solar PV pumping system is a technical job that requires specialized knowledge and information to keep the system in working condition and sustainable and in working conditions. For this purpose, this sourcebook is designed to provide information on the design, operation, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of solar PV pumping systems.
