भारत के स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन की नींव तैयार करने में प्रमुख भूमिका निभानेवाली लाल-बाल-पाल की तिकड़ी में से एक बिपिनचंद्र पाल राष्‍ट्रवादी नेता होने के साथ-साथ शिक्षक, पत्रकार, लेखक और एक प्रखर वक्‍ता भी थे। उन्हें भारत में क्रांतिकारी विचारों का जनक माना जाता है। लाल-बाल-पाल की इस तिकड़ी ने सन् 1905 में बंगाल-विभाजन के विरोध में ब्रिटिश शासन के खिलाफ जबरदस्त आंदोलन किया। उन्होंने महसूस किया कि विदेशी उत्पादों की वजह से देश की अर्थव्यवस्था खस्ताहाल हो रही है और यहाँ तक कि लोगों का काम-काज भी छिन रहा है, अतः अपने आंदोलन में उन्होंने इस विचार को भी सामने रखा। राष्‍ट्रीय आंदोलन के दौरान ‘गरम धड़े’ के अभ्युदय को महत्त्वपूर्ण माना जाता है, क्योंकि इससे आंदोलन को एक नई दिशा मिली और भारतीय जनमानस में जागरूकता बढ़ी। स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के दौरान महर्षि अरविंद के खिलाफ गवाही देने से इनकार करने पर बिपिनचंद्र पाल को छह महीने की सजा हुई। जीवन भर राष्‍ट्र-हित के लिए काम करनेवाले बिपिनचंद्र पाल 20 मई, 1932 को भारत माँ के चरणों में अपना सर्वस्व त्यागकर परलोक सिधार गए। Krantinayak Bipin Chandra Pal by M.I.
