On Thursday, January 11th, 2018 behind closed doors meeting, our President Donald J. Trump made a comment on immigrants coming from Haiti and African nations as people from "shithole countries". It was all over the news especially on CNN, MSNBC, NBC News, NPR and so many other channels. African news networks also went on discussing this, and generally broke the internet. The social media became main a battle ground for people who support and those who oppose. For over years, African countries have been referred to as Developing Countries, Dark Continent, Peripheral, Banana Republic, Third World Nations and so many other words. These terminologies have been used from grade school to universities, and all these terminologies have been "designed" by Westerners to categorize and group these countries into one box, and denying them certain privileges and/or rights. CNN and other western media use these words which are very offensive and derogatory every single day especially when talking of economies and democratic tendencies in Africa. If not being hypocrite, why those networks tell Africans that Trump called you "shithole countries" and telling them it is a bad word and offensive while same networks still using similar words, just different wording to those countries? And why African countries get upset with one word as offensive and derogatory but "accepting" all other words of similar meaning and implications? Is it because CNN said so? Personally, I have seen and experienced those extremely dirty, shabby and unpleasant places in both African countries and here in the United States. There are so many places you cannot even imagine you are in America, apart from being "fooled" with nice pictures on internet and media. There are so many rats in New York City around the Subway just like some slams in some parts of Africa. There are so many unpleasant places across the United States if you take a picture no one will ever believe you that you're in America. Each country on the planet has parts of shabby, extremely dirty and unpleasant places, at the same time you'll find beautiful places and things to enjoy in that particular area from the people, culture and environment. If I were to do it over, I would still like to be born in Africa. I liked my childhood upbringing, cultural values, respect and everything prepared me to be outstanding human beings. In short, I would never change I thing. I would live there and still relocated to another place, it's all because God created human beings and have them the Earth, and not specific country. I'm a citizen of the planet Earth and will do everything to help making it a better place, leave a legacy to the new generation too.

There are only shithole values, mindsets, strategies, and broken systems that lead to failure and disaster. This method is simple, direct, and genuine. It is centered on the notion of change, system improvement, and values. This book is the first comprehensive analysis of the instrumental value of democracy in a comparative perspective. Based on extensive analyses of quantitative studies from different disciplines, it explores both the expected beneficial and harmful impact of democracy. Democracy’s reputation as delivering peace and development while controlling corruption is an important source of its own legitimacy. Yet, as this book acutely demonstrates, the arguments tend to be normatively driven interventions in ideologically charged policy debates. The book argues that we need neither a utopian framing of democracy as delivering all ‘good things’ in politics nor a cynical one that emphasizes only the ‘dangerous underbelly’ of this form of government. The author also raises critical questions about the value of the study of democracy: the choice for particular concepts and measures, the unknown mechanisms, and the narrow focus on specific instrumental values. This volume will be necessary reading for anyone interested in debates on democracy in the contemporary global context.

A unique and irreverent take on everything that's wrong with our “national conversation about race”—and what to do about it How to Be Less Stupid About Race is your essential guide to breaking through the half-truths and ridiculous misconceptions that have thoroughly corrupted the way race is represented in the classroom, pop culture, media, and politics. Centuries after our nation was founded on genocide, settler colonialism, and slavery, many Americans are kinda-sorta-maybe waking up to the reality that our racial politics are (still) garbage. But in the midst of this reckoning, widespread denial and misunderstandings about race persist, even as white supremacy and racial injustice are more visible than ever before. Combining no-holds-barred social critique, humorous personal anecdotes, and analysis of the latest interdisciplinary scholarship on systemic racism, sociologist Crystal M. Fleming provides a fresh, accessible, and irreverent take on everything that’s wrong with our “national conversation about race.” Drawing upon critical race theory, as well as her own experiences as a queer black millennial college professor and researcher, Fleming unveils how systemic racism exposes us all to racial ignorance—and provides a road map for transforming our knowledge into concrete social change. Searing, sobering, and urgently needed, How to Be Less Stupid About Race is a truth bomb for your racist relative, friend, or boss, and a call to action for everyone who wants to challenge white supremacy and intersectional oppression. If you like Issa Rae, Justin Simien, Angela Davis, and Morgan Jerkins, then this deeply relevant, bold, and incisive book is for you.

Donald Trump won the presidency by being a one-man wrecking ball against our dysfunctional and corrupt establishment. Now Ann Coulter, with her unique insight, candor, and sense of humor, makes the definitive case for why we should all join his revolution. The media have twisted themselves in knots, trying to grasp how Donald Trump won over millions of Americans and what he'll be like as president. But Ann Coulter isn't puzzled. She knows why Trump was the only one of seventeen GOP contenders who captured the spirit of our time. She gets the power of addressing the pain of the silent majority and saying things the "PC Thought Police" considers unspeakable. She argues that a bull in the china shop is exactly what we need to make America great again. In this powerful book, Coulter explains why conservatives, moderates, and even disgruntled Democrats should set aside their doubts and embrace Trump: ·He's putting America first in our trade deals and alliances, rather than pandering to our allies and enemies. ·He's abandoned the GOP's decades-long commitment to a bellicose foreign policy, at a time when the entire country is sick of unnecessary wars. ·He's ended GOP pandering to Hispanic activists with his hard-line policy on immigration. Working class Americans finally have a champion against open borders and cheap foreign labor. ·He's overturned the media's traditional role in setting the agenda and defining who gets to be considered "presidential." ·He's exposed political consultants as grifters and hacks, most of whom don't know real voters from a hole in the ground. If you're already a Trump fan, Ann Coulter will help you defend and promote your position. If you're not, she might just change your mind.

A decade after the 9/11 attacks, this groundbreaking book takes readers deep into rebellions against both autocrats and extremists that are redefining politics, culture, and security threats across the Islamic world. The awakening involves hundreds of millions of people. And the political transformations— and tectonic changes—are only beginning. Robin Wright, an acclaimed foreign correspondent and television commentator, has covered the region for four decades. She witnessed the full cycle, from extremism’s angry birth and globalization to the rise of new movements transforming the last bloc of countries to hold out against democracy. Now, in Rock the Casbah, she chronicles the new order being shaped by youthinspired revolts toppling leaders, clerics repudiating al Qaeda, playwrights and poets crafting messages of a counter-jihad, comedians ridiculing militancy, hip-hop rapping against guns and bombs, and women mobilizing for their own rights. This new counter-jihad has many goals. For some, it’s about reforming the faith. For others, it’s about reforming political systems. For most, it’s about achieving basic rights. The common denominator is the rejection of venomous ideologies and suicide bombs, plane hijackings, hostage-takings, and mass violence to achieve those ends. Wright captures a stunning moment in history, one of the region’s four key junctures—along with Iran’s revolution, Israel’s creation, and the Ottoman Empire’s collapse—in a century. The notion of a clash of civilizations is increasingly being replaced by a commonality of civilizations in the twenty-first century. But she candidly details both the possibilities and pitfalls ahead. The new counter-jihad is imaginative and defiant, but Muslim societies are also politically inexperienced and economically challenged.

The human condition has continued to improve phenomenally in today’s world with the development of technology and medicine. This includes developing countries in areas such as Africa, Asia, and South America. Despite the emergence of economy, education, and infrastructure in these regions, media outlets continue to forego their advancements in favor of the negativities that plague these states such as poverty, hunger, and corruption. There is a need to research international media portrayals of the less developed world to ascertain the myth that these areas are still struggling. Deconstructing Images of the Global South Through Media Representations and Communication provides emerging research exploring the theoretical and practical aspects of how global media analyzes developing countries. Featuring coverage on a broad range of topics such as cultural affirmation, online platforms, and audience perception, this book is ideally designed for communications specialists, journalists, broadcasters, newscasters, conflict photographers, media practitioners, policymakers, international relation experts, column writers/editors, students, politicians, government officials, researchers, and academicians seeking current research on the world’s perception of developing countries through media coverage.
