And it must not be for gotten that accents and vowels are of the same authority, both having sprung entire from the head of the Masorete, and whoso condemns the one condemns the other. No doubt those whose condemnation falls so ruinously upon the accents would dispense with the vowels as well. Would many of them feel the loss of dispensing with the consonants also?
