This alumni record lists all the graduates of Hillsdale College, by class, from 1856 through 1898. The record also includes the constitution of the Alumni Association; a history of Hillsdale College alums; abstract of proceedings of the Alumni Association from 1865-1895; a list of Hillsdale College trustees, presidents, professors, tutors, Ladies' Department principals, secretaries and treasurers, and the principals of the Commercial Department. Appended to this is the list of individuals to whom Hillsdale College has granted honorary degrees, from 1858 to 1887. The entries for the graduates include their class, name, address, present occupation, the degree earned at graduation, place of birth, date of birth, date of marriage, and to whom they were married. Also noted, in a separate section, are degrees earned by alums at other colleges after graduating from Hillsdale College. And finally a list of deceased members with the year of their graduation, date of death, place of death, and cause of death. Also listed are the deceased wives and husbands of alumni. The volume includes a report on the Alumni Endowment. Also included is the oration delivered at the alumni reunion, June 10, 1885 by Wallace Heckman (class of 1874); "Our March Through the Past" - a poem by Will Carleton (class of 1869); "Old College Days" by Dallas Boudeman (class of 1870); the address of Joseph W. (class of 1873); "Res Quae Remanent" a poem by May Preston (class of 1878); the historian's report; "Hillsdale College - The Co-Educational School Where We Won Our Sweethearts" by Rev. H. M. Ford; "Our Opportunity" by Rev. John L. Collier (class of 1863); "Reunion Memories" by Rev. J. C.
