Excerpt from Report of the Quartermaster-General of the State of New Jersey, for the Year 1902 The material used is of the Oakes manufacture, made at Bloom field, New Jersey, purchased by the State and turned over to the con tractor to be used in the fabrication of the garments, thus securing cloth uniform in color and quality. The present mode of furnishing uniforms to the National Guard should be readjusted. As it is, certified bills for the purchase of uni forms are paid by the Treasurer upon the warrant of the Comptrol ler, and it is the duty of the Quartermaster - General to notify the Comptroller on or before the first Monday in April of each year of the sum charged against each organization for uniforms furnished during the year ending on that day, and one-fourth of the amount so reported shall be deducted from each of the two next succeeding appropriations for each organization so furnished.
