"Inside Quatro uncovers some of the exile history of the ANC and SWAPO that both organisations would prefer not to remember. Here is a first-hand account of the ANC's Quatro prison camp and of the mutiny in Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) in Angola in 1984; articles on the SWAPO 'spy drama' of the 1970s and 1980s; an analysis of a death in exile with implications relating to Jacob Zuma; and a study of the responses of both the ANC and SWAPO to these episodes of intolerance, repression and excess. In all his essays, Trewhela analyses problems of the liberation struggles with a former insider's knowledge and a journalist's ability to ferret out the facts"--Publisher's website.

Why Quatro? It is pretty simple. Quatro means “four,” and this book contains four novellas. These four works are not related to one another in any possible way except for the fact they were all written by the same author. They all have distinct characters with diverse personalities. Where each story takes place is unique. They are all of varying lengths, and not surprisingly, they all have individual titles, so it does not matter in which order you read them. ***** “15 Minutes to Live.” Five chapters, five dissimilar people, five separate locations, five different times. All with one thing in common: they all have only fifteen minutes to live! “Hamden Notch.” A sleepy little town with a grisly little secret. “HouseBeat.” There’s no place like home—except if the home doesn’t want you there! “Crust Heaven.” Travel back in time before computers, before cell phones, even before most homes had televisions. Back when life was simpler, especially when viewed through the eyes of a nine-year-old boy.

This “startlingly original” novel from the author of I Want to Show You More offers “a profound, and profoundly strange, meditation on desire” (Claire Dederer, The Atlantic). Jamie Quatro’s remarkable debut story collection, I Want to Show You More, announcing her as “a writer of great originality” (New York Times Book Review). Now, with her first novel, Quatro delivers a portrait of female desire and the complexities of a marriage. Married twenty years to Thomas and living in Nashville with their two children, Maggie is drawn ineluctably into a passionate affair while still fiercely committed to her husband and family. What begins as a platonic exchange between writer Maggie and poet James, gradually transforms into an emotional and erotically-charged bond that challenges Maggie’s sense of loyalty and morality, drawing her into the depths of desire. Using an array of narrative techniques and written in spare, elegant prose, Jamie Quatro gives us a compelling account of one woman’s emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual yearnings—unveiling the impulses and contradictions that reside in us all. Fire Sermon, “full of vivid, mercurial prose, breathes new life into [its] subject and sets it gloriously ablaze” (Claire Luchette, O Magazine).

Sharp-edged and fearless, mixing white-hot yearning with daring humour, Jamie Quatro’s debut short-story collection is a stunning and subversive portrait of modern infidelity, faith, and family. Set around Lookout Mountain on the border of Georgia and Tennessee, Quatro’s hypnotically revealing stories range from the traditional to the fabulist as they expose lives torn between spirituality and sexuality in the New American South. These fifteen linked tales confront readers with dark theological complexities, fractured marriages, and mercurial temptations. Throughout the collection, a mother in her late thirties relates the various stages of her affair while other characters lay bare their own notions of God, illicit sex, raising children, and running: a wife comes home with her husband to find her lover’s corpse in their bed; marathon runners on a Civil War battlefield must carry phallic statues and are punished if they choose to unload their burdens; a girl’s embarrassment over attending a pool party with her quadriplegic mother turns to fierce devotion under the pitying gaze of other guests; and a husband asks his wife to show him how she would make love to another man. Sultry, acute, startlingly intimate, and enticingly cool, I Want To Show You More is the thrilling debut of an exhilarating new voice in American fiction.

Suzi Quatro's transformation from girl to glam rocker was fuelled by huge talent, determination, hard work and a fabulous sense of humour, but it wasn't easy. In Unzipped, Quatro tells her story of life behind the scenes and in the thick of it as one of the first major break-out female rock bassists. Later, she went on to Hollywood to join the cast of Happy Days, juggling her acting and music career with a turbulent personal life and constant touring around the world.

The animal with the red fur and the fluffy tail was traveling north to find a new home, and he found Wildwood Village. It seemed a good place to stop, especially when he found the injured, red-furred lady in the rock den. It wseemed even better when she was very happy to see him. One thing better than two friends was three of them, and when the trio joins together with their carrying baskets, surprising things can be found. Who would think that they would get to hold, in their bare hands, the tiny baby meadow voles. It happened, though, and there were pictures to prove it. It is not likely that they would have even found the baby voles if it had not been for Quatro, the immigrant fox. This is the fourteenth book of the Twenty Book Series, Wildwood Village Summer Camp, where 25 girls, ages ten to twelve, could spend a summer with each other and the local animals of central Oklahoma.
