Are there still prophets in the church today? Too many people in the body of Christ assume the prophet is no longer a functioning member of the five-fold ministry simply because the office was vacant for about 400 years of biblical history. Those who recognize that Jesus ushered in a new era of prophets still do not understand the functionality of this office. The Office of a Prophet brings to light the responsibilities, gifts, and privileges bestowed on those who occupy this office. It details the assignments, obedience, strengths, and weaknesses of prophets in the Old and New Testament, as well as lays emphasis on pitfalls to be avoided by those called to this office. Whether you're called to The Office of a Prophet or just doubt the legitimacy of this office, Choice Nwachuku will enlighten you on importance of the prophet in the proper functioning of the five-fold ministry and the need for it in this dispensation of the end times.

"The church today is in great need of the prophet's ministry. And yet, there exist much ignorance and misunderstanding of this important and vital ministry. This is partly due to the lack of teaching on the subject of the prophetic ministry, the lack of depth in the understanding of spiritual matters concerning the church, fear, distrust between leaders, pride, jealousy and disobedience to the Spirit of God and the will and plan of God for end-time-ministry. All of these things and such like are to be blamed for the ignorance and misunderstanding that currently exist concerning the prophet's ministry. As the church draws nearer to the end of the church-age prophets, prophetess and prophetic ministries will become more necessary and in increasing demand. The purpose of this book is to show biblical evidence for the ministry of the modern-day prophet/prophetess and to show they still exist within the New Testament Church. The purpose is also to establish knowledge of the workings of, the need of and the importance of the modern-day prophetic ministry. Without the ministry of the prophet/prophetess the body of Christ would indeed be incomplete. " Why The Church Needs The Prophet's Ministry" is an excellent guide for opening the doors of awareness to the prophet's ministry and for the bringing about of understanding that can lead to cooperation between the five-fold-ministry, as well as the entire body of Christian workers, adding to the completion of the end-time work of the ministry."

What does the New Testament teach about the spiritual gift of prophecy? What is it? How does it function? Can evangelical Christians use it in their churches today? This updated, comprehensive work answers such questions and points the way to a renewed understanding of the gift of prophecy—an understanding that suggests how the body of Christ may enjoy one of the Holy Spirit's most edifying gifts without compromising the supremacy of Scripture.

The gift of prophecy has always invited some degree of opposition and controversy. It is one of the most vivid displays of God's presence and power among his people. Many people struggle with the very concept of the validity of prophecy today. They are troubled by the possibility that God may have direct access to our minds. Greg Haslam argues that such concerns are misplaced. Following St Paul's injunction that we should be 'eager to prophesy' he considers how God speaks, and how we should hear him; how we can test and deliver a prophetic word; and how we can grow in confidence as we learn to discern what the Spirit is saying to the church.

This critique provides a framework for understanding and interpreting the widespread but little-known New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement. As the authors state in the preface: "We write this book with two major goals in mind. First, to give people an idea of the sheer size and reach of the NAR movement. And second, to systematize its key teachings and practices and evaluate them on the basis of Scripture and careful reasoning . . In our judgment, the NAR perspective crosses these boundaries [that is, certain broad parameters, revealed in Scripture and practiced in the historical orthodox church], and it does so in part because of flawed theology rooted in a flawed understanding of Scripture. We wish to warn readers about a possible confusion: Some critics have linked the NAR movement with mainstream Pentecostalism and charismatics. We do not do this. In fact, it is our contention that the NAR movement deviates from classical Pentecostal and charismatic teachings. This movement has emerged out of independent charismatic churches and, thus, has gained a foothold in many of those churches in varying degrees."
