Excerpt from Second Annual Report of the President and Directors to the Stockholders of the Western North Carolina Rail Road Company: Together With the Proceedings of the Stockholders at Their Annual Meeting Held in Statesville, on the 28th August, 1856 On motion of E. M. Campbell, of Iredell, E. J. Erwin of Burke, was called to the Chair, and John A. Roseboro' and T. S. Low, of Catawba, were appointed Secretaries. On motion of W. W. Avery of Burke, a. Committee was ap pointed to verify proxies and report on the amount of stock represented in this meeting, in person and by proxy. Where upon, the Chair appointed Henderson Sherrill, E. M. Camp bell and A. K. Simonton, together with the Secretary of the Company, said Committe. Who, thereupon, reported that there were 3333 shares of stock duly represented. 94: stock holders representing 17 23 shares in person, and 1610 by prox ies, which report was accepted.
