Excerpt from The Elementary Principles of Wireless Telegraphy IN presenting this Handbook, the author has endeavoured to explain, in the simplest possible manner, the theory and practice of Wireless Telegraphy. It has been his aim to make the subject intelligible to persons who do not possess much technical knowledge, and to be at the same time brief and accurate. The book has been so arranged as to be useful as a reference book on the subject for students and amateurs in this special branch of electrical science. Excerpt from Wireless Telegraphy N this book the author has had in his mind's eye the reader who, possessing a general scientific knowledge, is anxious to know something, not only of the accomplishments of wireless, but also of the means by which they are attained. The subject is necessarily a highly technical one, and the first four chapters are devoted solely to explanations of the electrical phenomena involved. Which explanations it may be added are really little more than state ments of facts illustrated where possible by mechanical analogy. The fifth and sixth chapters deal with the application of these principles to wireless apparatus, and from the seventh chapter onwards the book is devoted to a general survey of the uses to which wireless is nowadays put. No forecast of the future has been attempted as at the time of writing the developement is so rapid that it is beyond anyone to foresee the goal to which it is leading. A short bibliography has been added including most of the better known books on the subject. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Wireless Telegraphy: Its Origins, Development, Inventions, and Apparatus The aim of this book is to present a comprehensive view of wireless telegraphy, its history, principles, systems, and possibilities in theory and practice. In considering inventions controversy has been avoided, although the claims of individual inventors have been carefully defined. Because of the complexity of the subject a certain amount of allusion in one part, to matters dealt with in another, has been inevitable; but it is hoped that such repetition may prove helpful to the reader. The book itself is designed to be of use both to the general public and to the technical student. The author begs to acknowledge to the publishers his obligation for kind co-operation; to the Century Magazine for extracts from the article by Mr. McGrath of St. Johns; and to the Scientific American for extracts and diagrams from an article by Mr. A. F. Collins. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Oscillation Valve: The Elementary Principles of Its Application to Wireless Telegraphy The invention and improvement of the Oscillation Valve has led to important and far-reaching develop ments in the art of Wireless Telegraphy. The new fields 'of possibility Opened by this invention have as yet been only partially explored, but already the perfection of the wireless telephone and of the Wire less compass are directly due to its agency.
