Excerpt from The Doctrines and Principles of the Law of Injunctions The object of the Author in the present work is to set forth the doctrines and principles constituting the basis upon which Courts of Equity found their jurisdiction in administering the Law of Injunctions. The subject is treated in an abstract form, and all reference to the circumstances of the cases where those doctrines and principles are enunciated are, so far as possible, avoided. No doctrine or principle is stated that is not founded on one or more cases, and these are always cited. It is believed that no doctrine or principle is omitted. So far as possible the doctrines and principles have been stated in the language of the Judges by whom they were pronounced. In addition to the cases in the English Courts, including appeal cases in the House of Lords from the English, Irish, and Scotch Courts, and those in the Privy Council, cases decided in the American Courts have also been cited.
