Download A Service Life Assessment of Corrugated HDPE Drainage Pipe Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
ABSTRACT: The service life of our nation's infrastructure has become a topic of increasing focus in recent years. While above-ground infrastructure deterioration is readily apparent, the infrastructure beneath the surface can be much worse and yet is often largely ignored until it is too late. Since culverts and other buried structures typically are not inspected as frequently as above-ground structures such as bridges, the proper assessment and determination of their service life becomes very important. The design service life of corrugated high density polyethylene (HDPE) drainage pipe has been a subject of considerable research over the past several years. This paper presents a method for determination of long-term service life of corrugated HDPE pipe by utilizing some of the current widely accepted methods employed by the smooth-walled plastic pipe industry while modifying them somewhat to take into account the unique geometry and installation conditions of buried corrugated pipe. The resulting data when tested in accordance to this protocol indicate a service life in excess of 100 years.

Download Handbook of Polyethylene Pipe Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Published by the Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI), the Handbook describes how polyethylene piping systems continue to provide utilities with a cost-effective solution to rehabilitate the underground infrastructure. The book will assist in designing and installing PE piping systems that can protect utilities and other end users from corrosion, earthquake damage and water loss due to leaky and corroded pipes and joints.

Download Plastic Pipe Systems: Failure Investigation and Diagnosis Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Industrial and domestic piping is increasingly made from various plastics and composites, and these materials withstand heavy use over long periods. They are, however, affected by environmental and other factors over time and can degrade, causing major problems within piping systems. Farshad's book deals with why plastic pipes and systems fail, and with how to investigate and diagnose such failures. Pipes may buckle, fracture, change in dimensions and colour, blister and delaminate, corrode through stress, be abraded and obstructed: all these cause problems and lead to loss of efficient operation of a system. The author's experience is backed up by a large data-base of results Wide target audience Only book covering the entire subject Unique approach based on long experience

"TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Synthesis 474: Service Life of Culverts explores the time during which a culvert is expected to provide a desired function with a specified level of maintenance established at the design or retrofit stage. This study is an update of NCHRP Synthesis 254: Service Life of Drainage Pipe (1998), which itself was an update of NCHRP Synthesis 50: Durability of Drainage Pipe (1978). Developments in plastic pipe, fiber-reinforced concrete pipe, polymeric-coated metal pipe, recycled materials, larger and more diverse structures, and sophisticated analytical soil-structure interaction modeling within the past 15 years led to the development of this report." --
