Northfield owes a large part of its prosperity to the fact that it is the birthplace of and the home of Dwight L.Moody, the world-famous evangelist. Here he built up Northfield Seminary for girls, a preparatory school of high rank. Much of East Xorthfield is a memorial to his life and work. He established the Northfield Summer Conferences, which are attended by thousands of people each year from all parts of the world, who seek here religious instruction and inspiration.
