The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on safety and health at work on a number of levels. First, the pandemic situation involved risks for workers' health. Workplaces have been a source of concern for contagions during the pandemic, which resulted in most European governments to order workers who could work from home not to go to the usual workplace. In addition, workers have been stressed by the overall emergency situation, the forced lockdowns and the increased demands and work pressure (especially in the case of front-line workers), which are associated to mental health issues. Second, the crisis has emphasised the importance of effective occupational safety and health (OSH) management. Lastly, the COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to change the way workers perceive safety and health at work, the importance they give to feeling protected and safe at work and the way they are familiarised with existing measures in their workplace. In a context in which the emergence of new digital technologies is rapidly changing the nature and organisation of work, the pandemic may have accelerated the process of digitalisation. Digitalisation may bring new opportunities for both workers and employers, such as increased flexibility and remote work, which so much contributed to the economy not coming to a complete halt in many European countries during COVID-19 lockdowns. Nonetheless, the digitalisation of the workplace may also create new challenges and risks for OSH, including increased work pressure and stress, which require to be recognised and addressed. In this context, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) commissioned a Flash Eurobarometer in April 2022 with the aim of gaining more insights on the state of OSH in the post-pandemic workplaces. The focus of this Eurobarometer is on the mental and physical health stressors workers are confronted with (including the digital technologies currently used in the workplace) and the OSH measures in the workplace.

This report describes the nature of the typical occupational exposure to electromagnetic pulses (EMP) received by personnel working at EMP simulator facilities and summarizes the medical surveillance observations collected on those personnel. Data from both informal observations and from comprehensive annual physical examinations of approximately 600 workers exposed to various EMP's over a number of years disclosed no adverse health effects attributable to EMP exposure. It was concluded that sufficient no-effect findings from both the human and animal experiences now exist to confidently allay fears of an EMP worker exposure hazard, at least for within a 10-year observational time frame.

The primary idea behind this book is to provide a platform for the sharing of contributions from the doctoral students of the Entrepreneurship and International Business group at the Department of Business Administration of Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia). The talented group, consisting of students from countries such as Egypt, Estonia, Germany, Ghana, Italy, Kazakhstan and Russia, are studying across various topics relating to Digital Transformation for Entrepreneurship and its related subjects. This thus creates a ripe opportunity for the sharing of perspectives from different theoretical and methodological applications. The book's chapters study decision-makers of small entrepreneurial firms, both start-ups and mature, as the primary target group, digging deep into their insights on recent and fresh research findings produced by the doctoral students as part of their studies. Therefore, the book fulfills two main objectives: 1) entrepreneurial firms will get concrete ideas and recommendations as to how to address and/or improve their entrepreneurial activities/approaches to entrepreneurship triggered by digital transformation, and 2) the doctoral students will get a unique opportunity to expand their scientific writing skills while at the same time having an opportunity to present their findings in a way that is considered relevant and impactful by practitioners. The scientific quality of each chapter has been ensured by the participation of two experienced scholars and supervisors — one of whom is the head of the Entrepreneurship and International Business group, and an active researcher on the book's topic — who have closely monitored the development process of the book.
