This is a great book for all ages that dives into the heart of the Pacific Northwest's most fascinating unexplained mystery known to many as Bigfoot! Throughout the book you'll find a few colorful photos that I took while in the field on some of my most recent Bigfoot adventures. I also talk about a recent encounter I had in Washington State while I was on a 8 mile night hike through Wellington! It was an unforgettable hike that ended with a possible close encounter with Bigfoot followed by a wood knocking adventure that I'll never forget. After that I discuss some of my thoughts on the primate language of wood knocking and why it can be helpful to other Bigfoot researchers as well. If you're looking for some new ideas or simply want to add something different to your Bigfoot book collections, check out this book.

One of America’s most esteemed natural history writers takes to the hills of the Pacific Northwest in search of Bigfoot—and finds the wildness within ourselves. “A unique book in the bigfoot literature . . . that understands what most lifetime bigfooters eventually come to know: that bigfooting is about the journey more than the destination.” —Cliff Barackman, field researcher and star of Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot Awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship to investigate the legends of Sasquatch, Yale–trained ecologist Dr. Robert Pyle treks into the unprotected wilderness of the Dark Divide near Mount St. Helens, where he discovers both a giant fossil footprint and recent tracks. On the trail of what he thought was legend, he searches out Indians who tell him of an outcast tribe, the Seeahtiks, who had not fully evolved into humans. A handful of open–minded biologists and anthropologists counter the tabloids Pyle studies, while rogue Forest Service employees and loggers swear of a vast conspiracy to deep–six true stories of unknown, upright hominoid apes among us. He attends Sasquatch Daze, where he meets scientists, hunters, and others who have devoted their lives to the search, only to realize that “these guys don't want to find Bigfoot―they want to be Bigfoot!” Where Bigfoot Walks was the inspiration for the 2020 film The Dark Divide, starring David Cross and Debra Messing. Since the book’s original publication, Pyle’s fresh experiences and findings have been added to his original work through an updated chapter. With an evaluation of recent DNA evidence from Bigfoot hair and scat, the study of speech phonemes in the “Sierra Sounds” purported Bigfoot recordings, an examination of the impact of the wildly popular Animal Planet series Bigfoot Hunters, the reemergence of the famous Bob Gimlin into the Bigfoot community, and more, Walking With Bigfoot keeps every Bigfoot enthusiast’s mind wide open to one of the biggest questions in the land and brings Pyle’s work on the “legend” of Bigfoot into the new century.

Who or what is Bigfoot? The simplest description is of a huge, hairy, muscular bipedal creature like a big ape and covered in hair ranging from black to brown to red to white depending it seems on the season as well you might see. The average heights reported are six to nine feet tall. Numerous North American peoples have mythologies concerning this mysterious creature and that would be an enormous book in its own right. I will stick to this which is the largest set of books on Bigfoot ever published. It is in numerous volumes in ebook and paperback format. Over fourteen hundred pages of Bigfoot encounters from all over North America! All of the sources are in the bibliography and are published or available on very reputable sites on the internet such as BFRO. Many are anonymous but I believe that this can be disregarded. Bigfoot is still a controversial subject. The largest statewide sightings are in their own books such as this oneon California. Others are in small groups of states ne You might notice that some of your favorite reports of Bigfoot might be missing. I know that your Grandma saw something in the local lake or woods or sky but she never did mention when and sometimes even where so Grandma's sighting will not be included. This also applies to plenty of other sightings. No dates so no entry. Even a year is enough and the name of the locality. Neither of these is a no show. But there are thousands more so find out about what might have or still might be lurking in your neighborhood. This is not your normal road map as we visit all over the continent. Happy travelling! You will be amazed as to what you will find in your state or even your neighborhood! Not all states start at 1800 either but I will try and start with datable and generally findable events. Some have plenty of sightings, some have very few and a lot of places that you thought had none actually had quite a few. I have seen various paranormal research organizations on the internet disappearing without trace and all of their accumulated data and knowledge with them. That is why I like books. Even after the last website crashes there might well be a lone paperback sitting in a thrift shop, safe with its repository of knowledge. Is Bigfoot rare? This book says NO! You be the judge. Read firsthand accounts in their own words, and spelling, as well as second person and third person accounts from many sources both in printed format as well as from respectable Websites to my understanding. This may seem disjointed at first but it shows the emotions and reactions of the observer much better than a long dry list of third hand reports. So the reports will be a mixture of first person, second person and third person as well as historic. Many of the reports are also in the witness's own written words as well including spelling and sentence structure. I prefer the authenticity of the reports as I am reporting their words, not mine. Editing is for tidying up purposes only. Sometimes the spelling is amazing but the report itself is still true to form.

If these stories don't satisfy your longing for adventure with a twist, keep reading! Watch as strange creatures glide through the remote waterways at Forlorn Lakes, then duck rockslides in one of Washington's coulees. And what about the pastoral farms near Puyallup? Are they fair game, too? And beautiful Ruby Beach? Is no place sacred? And watch out for totem poles with Bigfoot carved on them, they'll bring nothing but trouble. Be careful when trying to outrun earthworms, and finally, come along on an adventure on a high mountain that nearly ends in tragedy. You'll want to be sure you're not alone in the woods while reading these stories, and the audio book will keep you entertained as you drive those lonely backroads at night-just don't panic and run off the road! This book talks about my encounter that I had with a Sasquatch while bow hunting in the Pacific Northwest. I dive into the heart of the Mystery that surrounds the Legend of Bigfoot by separating fact from common misconceptions. I also discuss a few popular theories on Infra sound, vocalizations, dermal ridge patterns, Migratory patterns of a Sasquatch and much more. I've studied this large, elusive primate for many years and for the first time, I've decided to share my findings with the public! Have you ever wondered why so many people believe in Bigfoot but can't figure out why there lacks any major hard evidence? Why are they so elusive and is there any hard forensic evidence that supports any real popular theories? Do you think we have an Unidentified North American Primate that's living and breathing in the Pacific Northwest? Read this book and and decide for yourself!

Most people think that we do not know much about the behavior of sasquatches; however, that simply is not the case. Through years of study and eye witness testimony, we have seen the same behavior patterns over and over, giving us a fairly good understanding of at least many aspects of their behavior and lifestyles, even if we do not usually know why they do what they do. This page contains a discussion on the various aspects of sasquatch behavior that we have seen and studied. Crepuscular (active both day and night); however, they do tend to be most active in the evening and early night and again in the early morning hours before dawn and into the morning. We really do not know their exact organization at this time, but based on field observations over many years, it appears that they live in family units composed of a mature male, one or more mature females, and whatever juveniles still remain with the family.
