Excerpt from The Election Law of North Carolina: As Amended by Acts of Assembly of 1885, 1887 and 1889 Sec. 2713. Any person who, by force and violence, shall break up or stay any election, by assaulting the officers thereof, or depriving them of the ballot-boxes, or by any other means, his aiders and abettors, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and imprisoned three months, and pay such fine as the court shall adjudge, not exceeding one hundred dollars. Sec. 2714. Any person who shall treat with either meat or drink, on any day of election, or any day previous thereto, with an intent to influence the election, shall for feit and pay two hundred dollars, the one-half for the use of the county, and the other to the use of the person who shall sue for the same. Sec. 2715. Any person who shall discharge from em ployment, withdraw patronage from, or otherwise injure, threaten, oppress, or attempt to intimidate any qualified voter of this State, because of the vote such voter may or may not have cast in any election, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
