This book gives an account of work that I have done over a period of decades that sets out to solve two fundamental problems of philosophy: the mind-body problem and the problem of induction. Remarkably, these revolutionary contributions to philosophy turn out to have dramatic implications for a wide range of issues outside philosophy itself, most notably for the capacity of humanity to resolve current grave global problems and make progress towards a better, wiser world. A key element of the proposed solution to the first problem is that physics is about only a highly specialized aspect of all that there is – the causally efficacious aspect. Once this is understood, it ceases to be a mystery that natural science says nothing about the experiential aspect of reality, the colours we perceive, the inner experiences we are aware of. That natural science is silent about the experiential aspect of reality is no reason whatsoever to hold that the experiential does not objectively exist. A key element of the proposed solution to the second problem is that physics, in persistently accepting unified theories only, thereby makes a substantial metaphysical assumption about the universe: it is such that a unified pattern of physical law runs through all phenomena. We need a new conception, and kind, of physics that acknowledges, and actively seeks to improve, metaphysical presuppositions inherent in the methods of physics. The problematic aims and methods of physics need to be improved as physics proceeds. These are the ideas that have fruitful implications, I set out to show, for a wide range of issues: for philosophy itself, for physics, for natural science more generally, for the social sciences, for education, for the academic enterprise as a whole and, most important of all, for the capacity of humanity to learn how to solve the grave global problems that menace our future, and thus make progress to a better, wiser world. It is not just science that has problematic aims; in life too our aims, whether personal, social or institutional, are all too often profoundly problematic, and in urgent need of improvement. We need a new kind of academic enterprise which helps humanity put aims-and-methods improving meta-methods into practice in personal and social life, so that we may come to do better at achieving what is of value in life, and make progress towards a saner, wiser world. This body of work of mine has met with critical acclaim. Despite that, astonishingly, it has been ignored by mainstream philosophy. In the book I discuss the recent work of over 100 philosophers on the mind-body problem and the metaphysics of science, and show that my earlier, highly relevant work on these issues is universally ignored, the quality of subsequent work suffering as a result. My hope, in publishing this book, is that my fellow philosophers will come to appreciate the intellectual value of my proposed solutions to the mind-body problem and the problem of induction, and will, as a result, join with me in attempting to convince our fellow academics that we need to bring about an intellectual/institutional revolution in academic inquiry so that it takes up its proper task of helping humanity learn how to solve problems of living, including global problems, and make progress towards as good, as wise and enlightened a world as possible.

Over the last fifty years, biology and life sciences have suggested many multifaceted challenges for metaphysics. The Metaphysics of Life Sciences is the first study of these challenges. This systematic study focuses on classical metaphysical debates, such as the divide between structural realism and antirealism, and the disputes between monists and pluralists, and essentialism and anti-essentialism. Divided into three parts, it covers amorphous reality, out of which life, organisms, and biological individuals are singled out and the means by which living entities are sorted, closely examining how entities are organized in a whole and whether bioengineered entities should be included in that whole or rather considered as artificial kinds. The final part of this study looks at microevolution, macroevolution, and epigenetic, behavioural, and cultural evolutions. By exploring the main issues that recent developments of biology and life sciences pose to metaphysicians, The Metaphysics of Life Sciences reveals the potential influence of this fast-growing branch of philosophy over classical fields such as metaphysics.

Sacred Quantum Metaphysics combines 24 updated metaphysical principles of ancient wisdom with 12 recent scientific discoveries including Einstein, Quantum Theory, String Theory, Multidimensional Physics, etc. Rest assured, the book is easy to read and easy to understand and everything presented will always be in everyday language, without scientific jargon, formulas or difficult equations! Beginners, intermediates, or experts will all find insights within these pages!People are intimidated by the words "Metaphysics," "Quantum" and "Science" - but they shouldn't be. One of my editors said she knew nothing about science and nothing about metaphysics. I knew if I could explain these concepts to her, everyone would be able to understand them. Dr. Gary Schwartz, professor of psychology and medicine at the University of Arizona, and author of The Afterlife Experiments (and other books) said after reading Sacred Quantum Metaphysics:"This could be one of the more insightful and enlightening books you will read in your lifetime."Why would one author say that about another author's book? Once you see the significance of the scientific and metaphysical connections you will absolutely understand! For example, Metaphysicians have proclaimed for thousands of years that our physical world is insignificant compared to the "unseen" Metaphysical, and now science has determined only 4% of the universe consists of atoms, molecules, etc. 12 recent scientific breakthroughs are revealing insights into the 96% of the cosmos that is "unseen," and now we can finally understand the true nature of the universe.Remember, along with many other insights explained in everyday language, you will...* Comprehend how multiple recent scientific studies have confirmed that your personality survives the death of the body and brain.* Understand how the recent scientific breakthroughs have confirmed that consciousness could not be generated in the brain's neurons, synapses, etc. * Grasp the Metaphysical connections to Einstein's Relativity and his famous equation E=MC.* Finally understand the nature of the vast storehouse of knowledge that both Einstein and Tesla described as the source of their insights, which Metaphysicians have called the Akashic Records throughout history.* Appreciate how Einstein's Space-Time Continuum was the 1st step in confirming the Ancient Wisdom of the "Astral Planes." * Become aware of how 11-dimensional Membrane Theory, was predicted in writings that predate Jewish "Old Testament" Scriptures.* Learn how String Theory may be confirming the Metaphysical "Vibrational Universe" that Metaphysicians have described throughout history. * Gain insights into more fascinating connections between Science and Metaphysics that are too numerous to list! There are so many problems facing humanity today, mainly because back in the 1600s science made the conscious decision to exclude spirituality and ignore ancient wisdom. Now that the new scientific discoveries have verified much of this forgotten knowledge, we can begin to re-create a better society and universe. We can finally embrace the solutions that will lead to a better future. You will find much more information at www.SacredQuantumMetaphysics.com. There is a 100% free download of "Awaken the Enlightened Master Inside You" Meditation for your enjoyment. Rich welcomes your thoughts at [email protected] only will you understand the nuances of that ancient wisdom and scientific discoveries but you will be given an in depth enlightenment into how to use them to create a much better world for yourself and our culture. You are about to embark on perhaps the most fascinating journey of your lifetime! Welcome aboard.

Why does the universe exist and what are you supposed to do in it? This question has been addressed by religions since time immemorial, but popular answers often fail to account for obvious aspects of reality. Indeed, if God knows everything, why do we need to learn through pain and suffering? If God is omnipotent, why are we needed to do good? If the universe is fundamentally good, why are wars, crime, and injustice all around us? In modern society, orthodox science takes the rational high-ground and tackles these contradictions by denying the very need for, and the existence of, meaning. Indeed, many of us implicitly accept the notion that rationality somehow contradicts spirituality. That is a modern human tragedy, not only for its insidiousness, but for the fact that it is simply not true. In this book, the author constructs a coherent and logical argument for the meaning of existence, informed by science itself. A framework is laid out wherein all aspects of human existence have a logical, coh

Offering a bold intervention in the ongoing debate about the relationship between 'theology' and 'science', Theology, Science and Life proposes that the strong demarcation between the two spheres is unsustainable; theology occurs within and not outside what we call 'science', and 'science' occurs within and not outside theology. The book applies this in a penetrating way to the most topical, contentious and philosophically charged science of late modernity: biology. Rejecting the easy dualism of expressions such as 'theology and science', 'theology or science', modern biology is examined so as to illuminate the nature of both. In making this argument, the book achieves two further things. It is the first major English-language reception and application of the thought of philosopher Hans Jonas in theology, and it makes a decisive contribution to the unfolding reception of 'Radical Orthodoxy', one of the most influential schools in contemporary Anglophone theology.

"This book is about the meaning of life, but it addresses it in a particular way, by looking at the related question: What is the nature of reality?" Thus Davis begins upon a fascinating exploration of the history of philosophy and metaphysics, from the Presocratics to the Vienna Circle. Along the way, Davis proposes a highly original system of metaphysics called apprehension theory, and shows how it can be used to resolve classic problems in metaphysics such as the mind-body problem and the problem of free will. Davis also describes how apprehension theory relates to the new science of evolutionary psychology. Throughout the work, Davis makes important connections between Eastern and Western philosophy. Ultimately, Davis views apprehension theory as a form of Zen philosophy. An accessible, insightful, and highly original work, "Metaphysics and the Meaning of Life" is a must read for anyone interested in philosophy and metaphysics.
