John McClure, son of William McClure and Elizabeth McMillan, was born in 1816 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He married Susan Millicent Beall, daughter of Josias Bradley Beall and Sarah Brinkley Butt, in 1846 in Campbell County, Georgia. They had eight children. He died in 1896.
