In the selection and arrangement of matter, the compiler aimed at what the Publisher had proposed should be em braced ih the work, viz: A brief sketch of the manners and customs of the aborigines who once inhabited the region of country within the several counties named - Notices of the earliest settlements by the whites - of the Germans and I r ish - Indian massacres - accounts of the several forts; and such other facts as are deemed necessary to understand the early history of this portion of Pennsylvania.
