On the day the pirates landed, Lea was living happily with her tribe on a small island in the Pacific. The pirates destroyed her village, burning it to the ground. They captured Lea and sold into slavery as a prostitute in Asia. Her Asian owner eventually decides to take her to Europe, where he can earn more money from her. But when she is put aboard the ship, the captain sees her and falls in love. He wins Lea in a card game from her owner. The captain teaches Lea to read and write. He also shows her martial arts, swordsmanship and marksmanship, making her an able warrior. Lea's strange journey takes a lot of twists and turns, but her ultimate goal is to get back to her Island so she can rebuild her tribe and once again find her old way of life. Lea falls in love with her sea captain, but they wonder if they can start a life together. The novel Lea, Island Princess Warrior shows the strength of one woman and how her mission is never forgotten. Col. Chuck Sanders is a disabled Vietnam veteran who served in the Marines. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, he now lives with his family in Kurtistown, Hawaii. "Lea initially started out to be a short story. After I gave her life, she seemed to take on her own persona. I felt like I was a medium and she was filtering through me as though she had actually lived at some point." He is writing his next book, Life After Vietnam.
