Excerpt from Land Service Bulletin, Vol. 8: March, 1924 It also appears that the district entered into separate agree ments with various persons desiring to make desert-land entries of land now within the district or of lands which may hereafter be included in said district wherein it was agreed, among other things, that in con sideration of certain sums to be paid by the prospective entrymen the district would furnish a certified copy of a water certificate showing the ownership of a certain number of shares of u eer rights, the original of which was to be retained by the district and the rights pertaining to which are to be conveyed to it by the Birch Creek Irrigation Company. Said agreement also made provision for the submission of annual proofs by the district as required by the deserta-land laws for the benefit of said entrymen; said annual proofs to be based upon the various sums stipulated to be paid by the entrymen. Excerpt from Service Bulletin, 1923, Vol. 7 The Fremont Experiment Station has a demonstration or experimental forest has had it since 1909, though, like many another good thing, the ing of'a coordinated plan for it has had to be put off until recently, when a good beginning has been made by Ebrest Examiner Roeser. This Forest is only 160 acres in extent, but its size is quite in keeping with my personal pref erence for small and very intensive experimental areas. The whole comprises a neat natural logging unit, drained by three streams, and all tributary to the Station coed pile. Dutting on the area is done almost entirely for fuel, although incidentally some railroad ties have been made. As this cutting is done by Forest officers the work may be carried out in an ideal manner, safe guarding an ideal pflan and ideal marking. Within the area, the unit is an acr Every operation in any manner affecting the forest conditions of an acre will eventually be a part of the record of that acre. Also, as soon as any acre is reached for cutting, it is expected to start an individual growth record of every tree. Of course, this recording and mapping takes time, but otherwise the intensive management will cost very little. Ebrestation ex parimente can.usually be located on areas which have not reproduced naturally or where, because of serious disease infections, clear cutting is desirable.
