A vivdly illustrated day in the life of a little boy and his daddy, this charming picture book paints a gently ironic comparison of how the day unfolds for each of them. The toddler is filled with glee as he tackles each new challenge, while the dad faces his day with a a more grown-up combination of perseverance and resignation--yet he finds himself inspired by his son's open-hearted optimism. Spreads alternate between perspectives--the little boy's excitement at driving his toy car around compared with his father trying to navigate traffic, for example. The tension is resolved by a transcendent final spread that shows what makes it all worthwhile. Inits unvarnished yet loving acceptance of the travails of being a working parent, Just Like Daddyis a perfect Father's Day gift for today's dads.

Daddy and Mummy are the first teachers, mentors, and examples available for children to take after. As a result, children are naturally tempted to become addicted to whatever they see their parents do in their childhood and formative years. However, because all humans have their inevitable and inalienable weaknesses, it is punitive for children to imbibe the curious characters and conduct of parents because it would affect the children and, in turn, their own children, as well as the society in general. It is profitable to identify and adopt the commendable character and conduct of parents, as well as abhor and avoid the curious character and conduct of parents.

At four years of age, a child is learning very rapidly, but sometimes they draw wrong conclusions from a limited set of experiences. This is what happened when our twin son, Kent, who drew the conclusion that the barber had given his daddy a "circle-haircut" style when it was actually a bald spot by nature, and so he requested that the barber give him the same style of haircut, thinking the barber was responsible for the "style" of haircut his daddy had. Through the years, we have found humor in his unusual request and would like to share it with others who may have a little boy who also has drawn the wrong conclusion or perhaps those who enjoy the same humor we have through the years. We still laugh about this. The day this occurred, my husband came home chuckling at the request our son had made to the barber, and the barber was very amused by it also. The above part of this story is an actual experience, and the rest of the book is fiction. He did not get the "circle haircut" in real life, but he does in the book. Follow father, son, and grandfather at the experiences they might have had.
