Nebula Award Finalist: A long-awaited savior joins forces with her dark twin to confront the evil threatening their land in the second book of the acclaimed epic fantasy the Great Alta Saga Grown to young womanhood in the mountain region of the Dales and trained for combat by the all-female followers of the goddess Great Alta, Jenna reluctantly accepts the fact that she might well be the Anna, the warrior queen who has long been prophesied. Orphaned three times while still a small child, the now-teenage Jenna is compelled to lend her support and skills to the Dales’ rightful king and his brother, Carum, who holds her heart, for the reign of evil usurper Lord Kalas threatens the future of every worshipper of Alta. But Jenna does not ride alone. Whenever darkness falls, she and her companions—a young priestess in training and an aging warrior—are joined by Skada, white-haired Jenna’s dark sister, who shares her destiny and her soul. But even their combined powers may not be enough to defeat the entrenched malevolence that means to destroy everything and everyone they hold dear. A finalist for the Nebula Award for best novel, Jane Yolen’s White Jenna is a wondrous tale of duty, destiny, peril, romance, and fantasy. Interspersed with the myths and poetry the story engendered, it is a brilliantly imaginative creation of a world, a culture, and their enduring lore.

Broken PromisesIf never made, then never broken. . . When a person has lost all hope due to circumstances beyond his/her control, the only place to turn is to God, for He is truly the one who gives all people the courage to persevere even when the world tells you, you should give up. The main character, Randi, is married to a man whom she loves very much. However, he turns to the use of alcohol and drugs while Randi is pregnant with their first child. Randi wonders why he has a changed from a devoted, loving, caring husband to a man she cannot trust. Sam's battle with his addiction continues until he ultimately overdoses and almost dies. Scared, afraid, and frustrated, Randi continues to be devoted to her husband even when her family suggests that she should leave him. Randi believes in the commitment of marriage, and remains by his side as he checks into his first treatment center at which she and their newborn daughter, Jenna, visit him. Unfortunately, Sam goes back to his destructive ways, and he ends up using drugs and alcohol, again. So distraught with the promise he had not only broken to her but to their young daughter, Jenna. Randi is uncertain if she can remain married to a man who seemingly cannot stay sober by commencing to living on spiritual principles. Sam ultimately convinces Randi that without her and their daughter, his life would not even be worth living; and because of this, he checks himself into a treatment center which specifically deals with people who are methamphetamine addicts. Finally, after his extensive treatment, the family is united, and life for them seems like it is finally going to be filled with all the love, peace, joy, and happiness which the young couple could imagine. They make plans to purchase a home, and soon after they are blessed with the pregnancy of their second child, Aden. However, everything begins to spiral downward as Sam, once again, cannot combat the insidious temptation of drugs. This pivotal point in the story propels Randi into making choices that will ultimately result in a different way of life not only for herself but also for her two young children. The author Jordan Austin writes with such heartfelt honesty that one cannot help to be drawn into her story as the lives of the characters unfold. Although her book is categorized as fiction, all the events in the story are based on real life characters and their experiences. Jordan Austin is also the author of Second Chances and the Rocky Road.

"No one seems to be happy with the present. That loathing of the present is understandable. The present moment, in modern life, is hard to love, or even to grasp. For the modern present is a state of constant motion. Perpetual moral, social, and psychic revolution is the price we pay for our unprecedented liberty, equality, and prosperity. Though we rightly prize those great political goods, having our world turned upside down every morning makes us all of us uneasy and some of us miserable. We exacerbate our unease by our failure to recognize it. With our ritual insistence that we are perfectly content to "go with the flow," we deny even the existence of our disquiet. We refuse to see what time it is, and we refuse to see ourselves"--

It's been five years since Jenna divorced me. She's everywhere in my mind, yet, nowhere in my reality.Still, I wear my wedding band around my neck, reminding myself the magnitude of what I've lost, because when she left, she took everything.I see her down the sidewalk, I promised no contact, but it's fate we're here at the same time. I follow her and take my chances, as I call out to her.She sees me and when she hears her nickname roll off my tongue she runs. I contemplate letting her go. Too much history, too many broken promises flood the road between us, as she crosses the street to get away from me.No. I'm not letting her go this time, not that easy. I grab her and spin her to me. She's gorgeous in a white pant suit, her light brown hair flowing all around her.My mind goes blank and I'm immediately thrown back in time to that night, in 1996, when I saw her for the first time. The night that I pushed her away and made sure she stayed close at the same time. She wanted fame, all I ever wanted was her.

A New York Times Bestseller From the New York Times bestselling author of Love & Gelato comes a Mamma Mia!–inspired tale about a teen girl finding romance while trying to connect with her absent father in beautiful Santorini, Greece. Liv Varanakis doesn’t have a lot of fond memories of her father, which makes sense—he fled to Greece when she was only eight. What Liv does remember, though, is their shared love for Greek myths and the lost city of Atlantis. So when Liv suddenly receives a postcard from her father explaining that National Geographic is funding a documentary about his theories on Atlantis—and will she fly out to Greece and help?—Liv jumps at the opportunity. But when she arrives to gorgeous Santorini, things are a little…awkward. There are so many questions, so many emotions that flood to the surface after seeing her father for the first time in years. And yet Liv doesn’t want their past to get in the way of a possible reconciliation. She also definitely doesn’t want Theo—her father’s charismatic so-called “protégé”—to witness her struggle. And that means diving into all that Santorini has to offer—the beautiful sunsets, the turquoise water, the hidden caves, and the delicious cuisine. But not everything on the Greek island is as perfect as it seems. Because as Liv slowly begins to discover, her father may not have invited her to Greece for Atlantis, but for something much more important.
