As Christians, we are to love God with all of our being--heart, mind, soul and strength. But many of us tend to overemphasize one aspect or another, and as a result, our faith becomes imbalanced. Some of us have an intellectual faith but lack compassion or spiritual discipline. Others of us have a vibrant, heartfelt relationship with God but lack commitment to truth or doctrine. And many of us overlook translating our faith into service and ministry. In this book ethicist Dennis P. Hollinger presents a holistic, integrative vision for reuniting Christian thought, passion and action. He shows how individuals, churches and movements throughout history have focused on either the head, or the heart or the hands--often to the exclusion of other expressions. But by linking our intellect, emotions and actions, Hollinger points us toward a whole faith for the whole person, where each dimension feeds, nurtures and sustains the others.

Over fifty current and former instructors and alumni, including Vandana Shiva, David Orr, Kate Raworth, Fritjof Capra, Bill McKibben, Mary Evelyn Tucker, and Jonathon Porritt, paint a rich picture of education for human well-being and the ecological health of the planet. Contributions delve deeply into the nature of transformational learning and holistic education, present a wealth of alumni experiences of working towards an ecological society, and detail the expansion of the Schumacher model to Belgium, Brazil, India, Japan, and beyond. The result is a rich tapestry of ideas and educational methods packed with insights and experience for practitioners and activists looking to build a just, ecological society.

The aim of this book is to familiarise English-speaking readers with the thoughts of the Swiss educationalist and philosopher, Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746 -1827), who was a major influence on such important educators as Frobel and Montessori. The book also demonstrates that consideration of Pestalozzi's fundamental ideas can provide helpful guidance for all those who want schools to be more child-oriented and produce better-educated school-leavers. Great is no longer good enough. Beyond Great delivers a powerful new playbook of 9 core strategies to thrive in a post-COVID world where all the rules of the game are being re-written. Beyond Great answers to two fundamental questions which face business leaders today in a world shaped by daunting and disruptive technological, economic, and social change. First, what is outstanding performance in this new volatile era? Second, how do we build competitive advantage in a world with new and often uncertain rules? Supported by years of research and hands-on consulting practice, this book presents a comprehensive framework for building a high performing, resilient, adaptive, and socially responsible global company. The book begins by taking an incisive look at these disruptive forces transforming globalization, including economic nationalism; the boom in data flows and digital commerce; the rise of China; heightened public concerns about capitalism and the environment; and the emergence of borderless communities of digitally connected consumers. Distilled from the study of hundreds of companies and interviews with dozens of business leaders, the authors have distilled nine core strategies – the new winning playbook of the 21st century. Beyond Great argues that business leaders today must lead with a new kind of openness, flexibility and light-footedness, constantly layering in new strategies and operational norms atop existing ones to allow for "always-on" transformation. Leaders must master a whole new set of rules about what it takes to be "global," becoming shapeshifters adept at handling contradiction, multiplicity, and nuance. This book will show them how.

Holistic Education is the story of a young man who started out believing he could make a difference. It tells how he followed his heart, used his head, and put his hands to good use in making his dream of holistic education a reality.A true educator lives the life. It is not something they do for a career; it is, rather, a calling. I have had many roles in various education streams and, through the years, have learned things that worked and things that didn't. In this book, I share my insights, experiences, and thoughts in the hope they inspire young educators and motivate students to become teachers.Without education, a country cannot grow. It is the foundation upon which we build our future. I am honoured to have been a part of cementing foundations for many students and having an influence in their lives. The truth of it is, although I may have had an influence in their lives and for the good, I trust, they have had a marked influence on mine.Samuel K. Busulwa's passion has always been education. He was educated at Makerere University in Kampala and did his master's degree in theology in Alexandria, Virginia. He continued his higher education, at Columbia University in New York, where he focused on curriculum design, development, and implementation. He has served as headmaster at Masaka SS, Aggrey Memorial School, Mengo Senior School as Headmaster, and King's College Buddo. He became the first full-time Academic Registrar of Nkumba University, 2001 to 2009. Since leaving the education field, he runs a consultancy dealing with teacher training, coaching teachers on management and designing school curriculum. He has also been a member of the National Curriculum Development Centre.
