Excerpt from Harvard College Class of 1890: Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Report, 1890-1915 It is also hoped that in this large and varied assortment you may find some face which you would really like to see again and with whose owner you would like to talk; and that you will come on to our Twenty-fifth Anniversary and 'do so. It will be worth coming to. We shall have Hapgood to tell us what is the matter with the world; Rublee to tell us what is the matter with business; Herrick, of Chicago, to tell us what is the matter with the literary public; Her rick, of Boston, to tell us what has been the matter with the Yale crews; and Page to tell us why a poet is not with out honor except in Hanover. It will be the one chance of a lifetime to march behind a brass band, at the head of the procession, to the Stadium on Class Day, lunch with our own Chief Marshal and see him head the column in the Yard on Commencement Day. Not until we have been out of College for twenty-five years more shall we again have a chance to see a member of our Class address the multitude at the Commencement Day exercises and talk to the President and Fellows and distinguished guests as an equal. The Anniversary Fund will have been raised, to what extent we do not now commit ourselves, and received by a surprised, and we trust not disappointed, Treasurer of the College, and all our troubles will have been turned over to our immediate successor, the Class of 1891. The Secre tary will promise not to send you any more importunate messages, and for five years you can look at his stamped envelopes without a qualm. Excerpt from Secretary's First Report: Harvard College Class of 1915 The following report presents a detailed account of what the class did during its four years at College. The chief value of a report such as this is that it forms the basis upon which all other records pertaining to the class must hang. It will be the source from which all comparisons will be drawn, both of the class with other classes and of the individual members of the class with other Harvard men. In addition, it will be a convenient starting point, a future reference to which will show the increased solidarity and spirit of the class, and a proof of its prophecy of success to all the members of 1915. It is hoped that these facts and figures will be an ever-ready guide which will lead the reader back to days, stirring and thrilling to some, quietly satisfying to others; but, to all, .days which will be recalled with certain pleasure and sure satis faction. Much credit is due Mr. Adolphus Terry for his Job like patience and zeal in collecting the data herein presented. May I express my grateful appreciation to the members of the class for their prompt and careful replies to my requests for information, and my trust that in the future I shall meet with the same consideration. Excerpt from Secretary's First Report, April, 1915: Harvard College, Class of 1914 Your Treasurer begs to submit the following report of all the receipts and expenditures of the Class Treasury from January lst, 1914, to January lst, 1915. The bank balance on January lst, 1914, has been materially increased by the pledges of members, although it is surprising what a small percentage of the class, only 65 per cent., have contributed. Excerpt from Harvard College Class of 1865: Secretary's Report No; 11, 1907 to 1921 Classmates: Our devoted Secretary, George A. Goddard, intended to issue a Class Report in 1915, on our fiftieth anniversary, in accordance with the time-honored custom, but his failing health prevented him from completing the task. As our last Report was issued in 1907, many members of the Class have been very anxious that the new Secretary should issue one more Report. Since 1907 more than fifty of our classmates have died, and as it would be necessary to prepare memorials of each of these, the magnitude of the task can be appreciated. With the help of the Class Committee and others this has at last been accomplished, although some of the memorials are not as complete as we should like to have had them, and your indulgence is asked for any shortcomings or errors. During the past year much time has been devoted to the Harvard Endowment Fund, and it is gratifying to be able to state that our class is one of the eight classes that have obtained one hundred percent, in enrolment, and that there are only four classes older than ours that have contributed a larger amount than we have. To recall the memories of the past, we have reprinted the Class Ode and Class Song, and extracts from the Oration and Poem.
