An ex–Wall Street trader improved on Moneyball’s famed sabermetrics and beat the Vegas odds with his own betting methods. Here is the story of how Joe Peta turned fantasy baseball into a dream come true. Joe Peta turned his back on his Wall Street trading career to pursue an ingenious—and incredibly risky—dream. He would apply his risk-analysis skills to Major League Baseball, and treat the sport like the S&P 500. In Trading Bases, Peta takes us on his journey from the ballpark in San Francisco to the trading floors and baseball bars of New York and the sportsbooks of Las Vegas, telling the story of how he created a baseball “hedge fund” with an astounding 41 percent return in his first year. And he explains the unique methods he developed. Along the way, Peta provides insight into the Wall Street crisis he managed to escape: the fragility of the midnineties investment model; the disgraced former CEO of Lehman Brothers, who recruited Peta; and the high-adrenaline atmosphere where million-dollar sports-betting pools were common.

This book is a LARGE PRINT format paperback using an 18 pt. Arial font. This book represents three decades of handicapping and betting harness races and is a summary of observations that are important to being a winning player. This book summarizes the conclusions on what made the author a winning player. There is no magic formula to become a winning player and the author is the first to say that there is more than one road to profits. This book is the road taken by Doug Masters to becoming a winning player. Becoming a winning player is part art and part skill, so it is impossible to summarize it as a mechanical method; however, Doug attempts to outline his process in the second half of the book. This book may be difficult for beginning harness handicappers to read because it does not explain any basic terminology. There are, however, glossaries of harness racing terms online as well in the racing programs of harness tracks. There are no winning examples in this book. This is a quote from the author in the introduction. "You will find no past performances listed in this book; this is intentional. Anyone who has been around harness racing for even a few years has probably read various books and publications offering a handicapping system. All of them will have examples of how a handicapping system or angle picked a winner. Anyone can do this, especially when so many of these authors are working backwards from the winner. To me, it is simply a waste of time. And besides, only a mediocre or inexperienced handicapper is going to believe there is a single path to success in wagering. This book consists of my observations of the sport and how it relates to my own handicapping perspective. If you are looking for a system that represents some sort of absolute truth, you're looking in the wrong place." Topics include: Handicapping Factors, Drivers, Horse Form, Speed, Pace, Class, Post position, Track, Statistics, Betting multiple racetracks.

"The first weekend at the track after reading your book (Handicapping Secrets of the Horse Racing Fanatic) I won $2,600.00! Thanks for all the great info."R. Kelley - Los Angeles, CA. "...Initially, I was looking for the plays on the pick six but actually evaluated them last. I would almost swear that I was privileged to look at an experienced horse player's soul. I believe this material needs more than reading, it should be studied and practiced. The author is certainly knowledgeable about the secrets of winning. For any serious horse player who is self taught or those who aspire to collect money from the race tracks, armed with just these techniques a loser could become a winner. I would heartily endorse this author.Thank you again," Jerry Smiley - NV"Great book with tremendous insight to thoroughbred handicapping and wagering." -janishrj "Gordon Easton's Pick-Six Formulas and other betting strategies are quite literally worth a fortune to any serious fan of horse racing. Add in the rest of the handicapping expertise he has picked up along the way, and you have a resource that no one who plays the ponies can afford to be without. Recommended without reservation!" - Jay M. - Arlington, VA "I failed to mention how informative the book you sent me is. Even with over 40-yrs. of experience, I learned things about racing that I more than likely did not know, or just plain forgot about. It's a good book!" "Good and interesting info for any handicapper. Thanks." -C.T. "Good tips and angles I haven't thought of before. Pick 6 strategies are great." -J.K. "very interesting book, the stats alone are incredible. A+++" -J.J. "Good insight to handicapping horses." -G.D. What makes Handicapping Secrets of The Horse Racing Fanatic your absolute best bet to put more money in your pocket when wagering at the track? It's not just master handicapper Gordon Easton's four decades worth of powerful and proven betting systems... spot plays... and long-shot picking secrets, all brought together in one book for the first time anywhere. What's sets this book apart from all the rest is that retired mathematics professor Gordon Easton is a mathematical genius specializing in Numbers Probability Theory, who gives his readers a complete set of "plug and play" betting formulas that will let you cover more horses and results for every dollar you bet, shaving the odds in your favor. For example: Most people never win a Pick Six because they don't have the hundreds of dollars needed to put a lot of horses on a single ticket. They will bet many $2 tickets instead. They could end up with several tickets with 3 or 4 winners... but none with 5 or 6 for the big win. But, by using Gordon's formulas, you are guaranteed to line up at least five winners on one ticket if you get a winner in each race. You'll also have a decent chance at getting a Pick Six... without spending a fortune. For example: Pick Six Formula #1 covers 4 horses in 1 race... 3 horses in 3 races... and 2 singles (your most likely winners). To put all of these horses on one ticket would cost you $216. Using Gordon's formula... you can do this for only $24, with the guarantee of 5 or 6 winners on one ticket if you have a winner in each race. There is no other place on the planet you can find this kind of incredibly valuable knowledge.

As the new century dawned, Wall Street was a game and the stock market was fixed. Ordinary investors were fleeced by big institutions that manipulated the markets to their own advantage and they had no comeback. The Game in Wall Street shows the ways that the titans of rampant capitalism operated to make money from any source they could control. Their accumulated funds gave the titans enormous power over the market, and allowed them to ensure they won the game. Traders joining the game without knowing the rules are on a road to ruin. It's like gambling without knowing the rules, and with no idea of the odds. The Game in Wall Street sets out in detail exactly how this market manipulation works and shows how to ride the price movements and make a profit. And guess what? The rules of the game haven't changed since the book was first published in 1898. You can apply the same strategies in your own investing and avoid losing your shirt by gambling against the professionals. Illustrated with the very first stock charts ever published, the book contains a new preface and a conclusion by stock market guru Clem Chambers which put the text in the context of how Wall Street operates today.
