Healthcare is noted for using leading-edge technologies and embracing new scientific discoveries to enable better cures for diseases and better means to enable early detection of most life-threatening diseases. However, the healthcare industry globally, and in the US specifically, has been extremely slow to adopt technologies that focus on better practice management and administrative needs. Presently, healthcare is grappling with many challenges both nationally and globally, including escalating costs, a move to a preventative care environment, and a technologically savvy patient with high expectations. The Handbook of Research on Optimizing Healthcare Management Techniques is a pivotal reference source that provides an extensive and rich compilation of various ICT initiatives and examines the role that ICT plays and will play in the future of healthcare delivery. It represents ways in which healthcare delivery can be made superior and the healthcare industry can begin to address the major challenges it faces in the 21st century so that ultimately the most important person in the web of healthcare players, the patient, can be confident about receiving high-quality, cost-effective healthcare. While highlighting topics such as e-health, medical informatics, and patient value, this publication explores the role of supportive technologies as well as the methods of focused, patient-centric outcomes. This book is ideally designed for doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, medical staff, hospital directors, medical boards, IT consultants, health practitioners, academicians, researchers, and students.

While many fields such as e-learning, business, and marketing have taken advantage of the potential of gamification, the healthcare domain has just started to exploit this emerging trend, still in an ad-hoc fashion. Despite the huge potential of applying gamification on several topics of healthcare, there are scarce theoretical studies regarding methodologies, techniques, specifications, and frameworks. These applications must be examined further as they can be used to solve major healthcare-related challenges such as care plan maintenance, medication adherence, phobias treatment, or patient education. Handbook of Research on Solving Modern Healthcare Challenges With Gamification aims to share new approaches and methodologies to build e-health solutions using gamification and identifies new trends on this topic from pedagogical strategies to technological approaches. This book serves as a collection of knowledge that builds the theoretical foundations that can be helpful in creating sustainable e-health solutions in the future. While covering topics such as augmented and virtual reality, ethical issues in gamification, e-learning, telehealth services, and digital applications, this book is essential for research scholars, healthcare/computer science teachers and students pursuing healthcare/computer science-related subjects, enterprise developers, practitioners, researchers, academicians, and students interested in the latest developments and research solving healthcare challenges with modern e-health solutions using gamification.

Software has become ever more crucial as an enabler, from daily routines to important national decisions. But from time to time, as society adapts to frequent and rapid changes in technology, software development fails to come up to expectations due to issues with efficiency, reliability and security, and with the robustness of methodologies, tools and techniques not keeping pace with the rapidly evolving market. This book presents the proceedings of SoMeT_19, the 18th International Conference on New Trends in Intelligent Software Methodologies, Tools and Techniques, held in Kuching, Malaysia, from 23–25 September 2019. The book explores new trends and theories that highlight the direction and development of software methodologies, tools and techniques, and aims to capture the essence of a new state of the art in software science and its supporting technology, and to identify the challenges that such a technology will have to master. The book also investigates other comparable theories and practices in software science, including emerging technologies, from their computational foundations in terms of models, methodologies, and tools. The 56 papers included here are divided into 5 chapters: Intelligent software systems design and techniques in software engineering; Machine learning techniques for software systems; Requirements engineering, software design and development techniques; Software methodologies, tools and techniques for industry; and Knowledge science and intelligent computing. This comprehensive overview of information systems and research projects will be invaluable to all those whose work involves the assessment and solution of real-world software problems.

The main problems that prevent fast and high-quality document processing in electronic document management systems are insufficient and unstructured information, information redundancy, and the presence of large amounts of undesirable user information. The human factor has a significant impact on the efficiency of document search. An average user is not aware of the advanced option of a query language and uses typical queries. Development of a specialized software toolkit intended for information systems and electronic document management systems can be an effective solution of the tasks listed above. Such toolkits should be based on the means and methods of automatic keyword extraction and text classification. The categorization (or classification) of texts into predefined categories has witnessed a booming interest in the last 10 years due to the increased availability of documents in digital form and the ensuing need to organize them. Thus, research on keyword extraction, advancements in the field, and possible future solutions is of great importance in current times. Developing a Keyword Extractor and Document Classifier: Emerging Research and Opportunities presents an information extraction mechanism that can process many kinds of inputs, realize the type of text, and understand the percentage of the keywords that has to be stored. This mechanism then supports information extraction and information categorization mechanisms. This module is used to support a text summarization mechanism, which leads—with the help of the keyword extraction module—to text categorization. It employs lexical and information retrieval techniques to extract phrases from the document text that are likely to characterize it and determines the category of the retrieved text to present a summary to the users. This book is ideal for practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, academicians, and students who are interested in the development of a new keyword extractor and document classifier method.
