An ancient Koine Greek manuscript is discovered that sheds fresh light on a host of long-held beliefs. History professor, Etienne Naude, discovers that the past, present and future are inextricably linked and intertwined. Things are not always as they appear to be a first glance. This rollercoaster ride accelerates at an alarming pace. Our unlikely team of unlikely heroes uncovers ancient mysteries that are directing present realities. As they peel back the layers that hide the malevolent beast that has systematically burrowed into the fabric of all society from ancient times, they uncover convoluted “wheels within wheels.” At last the hidden enemy is revealed in its true reality. They discover that God’s revenge is indeed an awesome thing. We read the eye-witness testimony of a survivor – one who has witnessed this reality from the inside. He describes a sickening holocaust of epic proportions that history has conveniently swallowed up and glossed over. Man does not learn from the lessons of the past, and is viciously inhumane towards his fellow man. Our team members also see that God’s love and grace to those who obey Him, are infinite. The helter-skelter ride builds up inexorable velocity until it comes to a crashing climax, which has included the international security forces, as well as the CIA and the KGB. Life can never be the same again!

Patricia Crone's God's Rule is a fundamental reconstruction and analysis of Islamic political thought focusing on its intellectual development during the six centuries from the rise of Islam to the Mongol invasions. Based on a wide variety of primary sources--including some not previously considered from the point of view of political thought--this is the first book to examine the medieval Muslim answers to questions crucial to any Western understanding of Middle Eastern politics today, such as why states are necessary, what functions they are meant to fulfill, and whether or why they must be based on religious law. The character of Muslim political thought differs fundamentally from its counterpart in the West. The Christian West started with the conviction that truth (both cognitive and moral) and political power belonged to separate spheres. Ultimately, both power and truth originated with God, but they had distinct historical trajectories and regulated different aspects of life. The Muslims started with the opposite conviction: truth and power appeared at the same time in history and regulated the same aspects of life. In medieval Europe, the disagreement over the relationship between religious authority and political power took the form of a protracted controversy regarding the roles of church and state. In the medieval Middle East, religious authority and political power were embedded in a single, divinely sanctioned Islamic community--a congregation and state made one. The disagreement, therefore, took the form of a protracted controversy over the nature and function of the leadership of Islam itself. Crone makes Islamic political thought accessible by relating it to the contexts in which it was formulated, analyzing it in terms familiar to today's reader, and, where possible, comparing it with medieval European and modern political thought. By examining the ideological point of departure for medieval Islamic political thought, Crone provides an invaluable foundation for a better understanding of contemporary Middle Eastern politics and current world events.

This is not a "how to" book. It's a story of redemption. The author, once an agnostic, began a quest at the age of thirty-seven to know Jesus Christ and found that He uses a variety of ways to simulate our interest, unique to our own experience, as we discover unknown depths of His love. He will gain our complete trust and manifest His life through every believer. By His grace He will reveal and deliver us from the secret sins, which hold us captive, and in the process write His laws upon our minds and engrave them upon our hearts. We are living cells in the body of Christ; living stones in His temple; lights in the world and living epistles for all to read. May the Holy Spirit sprinkle the diamond dust of revelation throughout; heavenly fragments that will cling to the fingers which turn the pages while He quickens the heart and confirms His unconditional, unwavering love toward every son and daughter. Most Christian authors have credentials in higher education, leadership training and/or distinguished careers in one field or another. Not so this writer. Shirley Shumaker ended her formal education after graduation from high school in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she still lives in close proximity to her loving offspring, Lori, Greg, and Steve as well as her exceptional teenage grandchildren, Connor and Fallon. Her story, as do most of our stories, issues from the parenting received from a loving God over a lifetime. UNION LIFE magazine published two of her articles in 1987 and 1991. Let this, her first book, nourish those who hunger for a closer relationship with their heavenly Father.
