Francis Cooke (1577-1663) was born at Blyth, Yorkshire, England. He fled to Holland in 1603 to escape religious persecution. He married Hester Mahieu (ca. 1585-1675), a Huguenot, there later that year. They had four children. He and their oldest son, John Cooke (1607-1695), arrived in America on the Mayflower in 1620. Hester and the three younger children followed in 1623. Record chiefly follows line to descent to Edmund Maxwell Cackler (1870-1963). He was born at Ashley, Ohio and married Anna May Moon (1897-1979) at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1917. They had four daughters, 1918-1928. He died at Oklahoma City. Daughters lived in Oklahoma and California.
