What is Feminine Spirituality? Spirituality is related to spirit or atma. And according to Vedic scriptures the atma has no gender. So, it seems that spiritualty should neither be masculine, nor feminine. Then why do we call it Feminine Spirituality? The highest evolution of our consciousness is when we are in a loving relationship with the supreme being. Love has the nature of femininity. When we love someone, we want to see that person happy. We want to please that person. We want to sacrifice our life for that person. This sacrifice and loving service is the main characteristic of the feminine nature. Again, this femininity is not related to the physical body. It is not related to the feminine body. It is the characteristic of the atma itself. The highest evolved personalities are the cowherd women who are feminine in their appearance and have the characteristics of this feminine love for the supreme. Great philosophers and scholars have glorified these cowherd women who have the purest love for the supreme lord. The goal of Feminine Spirituality is to understand that whether we are male of female, as a spiritual being we are feminine in relation with the Divine. We should not feel disturbed with the word feminine as it is not related with our physical appearance. It is related to the soul and refers to the relationship between atma and paramatma, between soul and supersoul. Therefore, we call it Feminine Spirituality.

I Asked A Young Man In A Ghetto In Agra If He Had Ever Seen The Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal? He Said. I Haven T Seen It, But Yes, I Have Heard Of It. It Is In Delhi. Agra Has More Than Mere Mention In The Hindu Scriptures. And The City S Position Of Strategic Importance Astride Important Trade Routes Historically Attracted Empire-Builders Ranging From The Lodhis And The Mughals To The British. Now, Says Royina Grewal, Agra Has Fallen Prey To A Lassitude That Has Caused Large Swathes Of The Once Magnificent Capital Of Emperors Akbar, Jahangir And Shah Jahan To Succumb To Decay And Haphazard Development. Delving Into Myth And History, Drawing Deep Conclusions From Her Lengthy Conversations With Varied Citizens Of Multi-Cultural Agra, Grewal Weaves Grand Strands From The Past With The Humbler Textures Of Present-Day Agra To Explain Why The Home Of The World S Best-Known Monument Has Been Allowed To Disintegrate, And Why The Once Mighty Yamuna Is Merely A Stream Of Sludge. But There Is Hope, Says Grewal. Drawing Inspiration From The Many Enlightened Individuals She Met On Her Peregrinations In And Around Agra, She Points To Ways In Which The City Can Be Saved. In The Shadow Of The Taj May Be A Map Of The City S History, But It Can Also Be A Drawing Board That Offers Insights For A Sustainable Future.

The Pushtimarg, a Hindu sect established in India in the fifteenth century, possesses a unique culture--reaching back centuries and still vital today--in which art and devotion are deeply intertwined. This important volume, illustrated with more than one hundred vivid images, offers a new, in-depth look at the Pushtimarg and its rich aesthetic traditions, which are largely unknown outside of South Asia. Original essays by eminent scholars of Indian art focus on the style of worship, patterns of patronage, and artistic heritage that generated pichvais, large paintings on cloth designed to hang in temples, as well as other paintings for the Pushtimarg. In this expansive study, the authors deftly examine how pichvais were and still are used in the seasonal and daily veneration of Shrinathji, an aspect of Krishna as a child who is the chief deity of the temple town of Nathdwara in Rajasthan. Gates of the Lord introduces readers not only to the visual world of the Pushtimarg, but also to the spirit of Nathdwara.

A person comes in the universe to do three jobskarma, dharma, and meditation. These three contain the entire philosophy of living. Karma is to take action for earning money, producing children, and bringing them up while living in the universe; dharma is to do this action as per tenets of ones dharma; and meditation is to surrender all of ones doing to God. However, he gets absorbed in earning money and producing and bringing up children. He remembers little or nothing of dharma and completely ignores meditation. This book, which is based on vast knowledge of Vedas and Shastras and over seventy years of experience of meditation, is the answer to the fulfillment of ones jobs (mentioned above). The author has made these very easy to follow and intelligible, and it is hoped the book would be of help to readers in achieving the goal of karma, dharma, and meditation, which gives mental relief.

Bhakti Sandarbha is the fifth Sandarbha of Jīva Gosvāmī. The first Sandarbha deals with pramāna, the Bhāgavatam. The second, third and fourth Sandarbhas deal with sambandha: defining the Lord in his aspects as Paramātmā, Bhagavān and Kṛṣṇa. The present Sandarbha deals with the abhideya (method), the sādhana of bhakti. This is the means to realize Kṛṣṇa. The same topic is covered in the second chapter of the Eastern Section of Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu of Rūpa Gosvāmī, but is expanded greatly. It discusses the spiritual nature of this process, the qualification of bhakti, the various actions of bhakti, vaidhi and rāgānuga types, mixed and pure forms of bhakti and various types of devotees.

India celebrated its fiftieth year of independence in 1997. This book has been written with a view to bring out India being the oldest civilized nation of the world. It would be demeaning the country to call it only a fifty-year-old independent country when we have been independent for lacs and crores of years, except for a small period of 140 years of British regime. The Muslim rule of about six hundred years has been taken as independent period because during this period, Muslim rulers were sovereign, independent Indian rulers rather than under any foreign power. And most of the kings were born and brought up in India and imbibed with "Bhartiyata." It was the British who ruled India as a colony only, bracketing us with the newly found lands of America, Africa, and Australia; whereas, we had been the most advanced, most educated, and richest country of the world in the past, particularly during the Maurya, Gupta, and Mughal periods. Tracing the concept of independent India, this book has taken the shape of India's full history, with specific reference to the theme of independence through ages, since vedas.
