"The handbook is divided into two major sections. Functional Provisions and Major Acts of Congress Relating to Forest Service Activities. The first section arranges the laws, or appropriate parts of laws, by broad subject matter ... Some of the laws included in this section are duplicated as parts of the laws in the second section. The second section contains the entire wording, or applicable portions, of major statutes relating directly to Forest Service activities. This handbook has been updated through the statutes enacted by the 94th Congress (1976)"--Page iii.

Download Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (Us Forest Service Regulation) (Fs) (2018 Edition) Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (US Forest Service Regulation) (FS) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (US Forest Service Regulation) (FS) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 This final rule implements the Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (CFP), authorized by Section 8003 of the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008. The CFP legislation is an amendment to the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978. The CFP is a competitive grant program whereby local governments, Indian tribes, and qualified nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for grants to establish community forests through fee-simple acquisition of private forest land. The program's two purposes are to provide public benefits to communities including economic benefits through sustainable forest management, environmental benefits including clean air, water, and wildlife habitat; benefits from forest-based educational programs; benefits from serving as models of effective forest stewardship; and recreational benefits secured with public access; and to acquire private forest lands that are threatened by conversion to nonforest uses. Existing provisions in Forest Service regulations pertaining to the Stewardship Incentive Program will be removed as deauthorized by the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, and this final rule will be substituted in lieu thereof. This book contains: - The complete text of the Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (US Forest Service Regulation) (FS) (2018 Edition) - A table of contents with the page number of each section

Download Legal, Institutional, and Economic Indicators of Forest Conservation and Sustainable Management Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
"This review looks at the Nation's legal, institutional, and economic capacity to promote forest conservation and sustainable resource management. It focuses on 20 indicators of Criterion Seven of the so-called Montreal Process and involves an extensive search and synthesis of information from a variety of sources. It identifies ways to fill information gaps and improve the usefulness of several indicators. It concludes that there is substantial information about the application of such capacities, although that application is widely dispersed among agencies and private interests; which in turn has led to differing interpretations of the indicators. Individual chapters identify a need to further develop the conceptual foundation on which many of the indicators are predicated. While many uncertainties in the type and accuracy of information are brought to light, the review clearly indicates that legal, institutional, and economic capacities to promote sustainability are large and widely available in both the public and private sectors."--P. vi.
