The old maxim is true: sometimes it is not just what you say, it is how you say it. One of the great problems in the Christian community today is a general inability to communicate effectively without polarizing or driving people away. Sometimes the greatest problem is the seeming inability of many Christians to learn the truth of another old maxim: silence is golden. For God's Sake, Shut Up!, by Communications Specialist Brian Kaylor, offers numerous insights for Christian leaders and followers who desire to share their beliefs in more meaningful and effective ways. For God's Sake, Shut Up! offers numerous insights for Christian leaders and followers who desire to share their beliefs in more meaningful and effective ways.

The traditional landscape of Anglican parish ministry is irrevocably changing. Priests have traditionally understood themselves as maintaining centres of prayer and spiritual care for people in a particular place, but urgent pressures on parish ministry are changing this. For God's Sake seeks to discern what priests are called to do in the new shape the church is taking. It looks for signs of God’s kingdom in today’s signs of the times, and ways of being both faithful and creative in the face of an uncertain future. A range of contributors explore first-hand the contradictions and paradoxes of a priest’s daily life, reflecting on how the wisdom of the past and the new initiatives of evangelization are shaping their vocation to prayer, study and speaking the good news of Jesus Christ.

"You were once given a helmet." "A helmet?" The Traveler thought for a long moment. "Yes, Soterion-the defender," he affirmed. "You must learn to wear it in battle," instructed the Preacher. "You take so many blows to your soul because your intellect is open to the enemy." "When am I in battle?" Ishi shook him gently. "Every day is a battle, Traveler! Take every thought captive, remember? Salvation is forever, and yet the need for it occurs in the daily battlefield. You must work it out with reverential fear and trembling. Wear your helmet, Traveler!" Fourth in the Jewels of Earth saga, this novel sends the Traveler careening through human history, searching for the mysterious Omnipoint. He must find it! His supernatural guardian has warned him that beyond was only utter and eternal darkness. Meanwhile, the black magic of the Cabala is distorting reality around him, humanity is dominated by animal compromises, and his immortal enemies seek his life. Is the beautiful unicorn shadowing his every move a fellow traveler or a dangerous deception? How can any of this be human history-his history-your history? Wear your helmet, Traveler!

Fully illustrated with photographs and historical artifacts, this detailed history reveals what life was like inside the infamous Nazi POW camp. During the Second World War, the centuries-old Colditz castle took on an infamous new purpose. It became the site of Oflag IV-C, a prisoner of war camp designated for Allied officers who had escaped from other camps, including such famous names as Douglas Bader, Lorne Welch and Jack Best. This authoritative history reveals the secrets of the Sonderlager—or “Special Camp.” Historian Michael Booker draws on forty years of research into the subject, including interviews with former prisoners, as well as the German commandant Gerhard Prawitt and the head of security Captain Reinhold Eggers. He relates stories of British, Polish, and French prisoners, and their many and varied attempts to escape. These narratives are supported throughout with rare wartime photographs as well as a priceless collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the castle, some of which have never been seen before.

After a film director dies in a mysterious fire, there is more than one side to the story of his life. Movie director Leland Granger sought acclaim his entire life, but only achieved his goal after his death. His sole feature film is released posthumously, and his daughter Debby pens a biography to establish her father's status as an auteur, despite the efforts of those, she contends, who undermined him. However, Leland's longtime friend Paul Garvey sees things differently. Paul levies his judgment upon the biography, while sharing his perspective on the man he had known since college, when he was just the asthmatic, eccentric Leon Grossman from Milwaukee. While Debby's sensationalist, pretentious tell-all, The Celluloid Umbilical, is widely panned and revealed to be largely fictional, Paul provides particular insight into her flights of fancy, having been present at many of the events she describes. His motive in debunking Debby's book isn't simply devotion to the truth or his friend's memory-he's defending himself and others against the character assassination she undertakes, which goes so far as to implicate him in the fire that killed her parents. The narrative is a deliciously sarcastic tale, packed with Hollywood history told from an insider's viewpoint, but the language is often too clever for its own good. Wolfe throws himself wholeheartedly into his novel's conceit, even supplying numerous footnotes citing Debby's fictional biography and those of other figures involved, as well as an index. But the meta-fictional premise, which brings Paul Auster to mind, isn't quite sufficient enough to sustain the reader's interest for 300 pages. The book ultimately ends with an unsatisfying whimper. Adding to the post-modern resonance, Double Feature has been published posthumously; Wolfe, a longtime Hollywood writer, died in 2007. A Hollywood whodunit told in compelling, if at times verbose, style.-Kirkus Discoveries

Tim Phillips' book tells the human story of the siege - of the terrible toll that thirst, hunger and sleeplessness took on the hostages, of the bravery of those who dealt with the terrorists, such as the elderly headmistress of the school and the doctor who tried to relieve the suffering of the young children. Phillips also looks at the authorities' response to the siege and finds it severely wanting. He has spent time in Beslan researching the book, talking to those involved and those affected, listening to the conspiracy theories, and trying to set the events of September 2004 in their wider context of centuries of conflict and enmity in the Caucasus.
